Recap / Elena Of Avalor S 3 E 3 Father In Chief

Go To

On the day the new Chief of the Jaquins will be chosen, Migs must bring his three Jaquin kids to work. Naturally, the cubs cause chaos, but the ceremony gets even more complicated when Troyo kidnaps Chief Zephyr.

  • Bait-and-Switch: At the end, Chief Zephyr says that his last day as chief went terribly... and that's why Migs will be his successor, since he's managed to juggle the responsibilities of being a good father and a good leader at the same time.
  • Breather Episode: After the previous couple of episodes, this episode focuses on Migs's aspirations and being a dad.
  • Chekhov's Gunman: The butterfrog that Troyo upsets before entering the grotto comes back to lick him in the eye just as he's about to throw Zephyr and Mingo into the shapeshifting roots.
  • A Day in the Limelight: Migs, and to a lesser extent, his kids.
  • Laser-Guided Karma: Troyo tries to turn Zephyr and Mingo into butterfrogs but ends up suffering this fate.
  • Not Now, Kid: A frustrated Migs ignores Mingo trying to show him something while they're looking for Chief Zephyr, believing him to be messing around again. It turns out Mingo found Zephyr's trail of tailprints and he ends up following it alone.
  • Reasonable Authority Figure: Although Zephyr is initially frustrated when the triplets accidentally throw a melon at him, the events of the episode prove to him that Migs is worthy to be his successor both because of his leadership skills and parenting skills.
