Mateo decides it's time for him to move into the palace and away from his mother. She decides to move with him, until a dangerous creature is released in the castle.
This episode provides examples of:
- Alliterative List: When Esteban catches Elena pranking Mateo, he describes her behavior as improper, impudent, and immature.
- Bait-and-Switch: When Esteban finds Elena pranking Mateo by making his stuff disappear with a Vanish spell, he scolds her about this not being proper princess behavior... and then suggests she do the chair next.
- Big "NO!": Esteban, when he is left behind with Rafa's plant.
- Embarrassing Old Photo: Demonstrated through old childhood memorabilia, such as Mateo's first tambourita and his old baby shoes. Interestingly, the old photo of him as a child with his mother is not actually embarrassing for him.
- Lecture as Exposition: Mateo is teaching Olivia about how to trap and free creatures from his creature compendium. She specifically asks about the Kupi-Kupi, which gets released later on.
- My Beloved Smother: Rafa refuses to let him grow up and be his own man.
- Not So Above It All: Although he initially seems to scold her about this being "improper, impudent, and immature", Esteban gets in on Elena's pranks on Mateo and finds himself guilty of what he seemed to be lecturing her about.
- Running Gag: Esteban does not like the plant Rafa brings to the palace because it's that ugly. At the end of the episode, he drops it from a high balcony to shatter.
