Let Me at Him!: The pregnant woman's widower, Chapman, tells Friday and Smith he wants five minutes with a young punk, Gregory Moore, whose reckless driving resulted in death. Smith is barely able to hold Chapman back and they try to tell him to leave, but he does get a chance to tell Moore that he did more than kill his wife and unborn child, he destroyed his life and several families and that he's lucky that he didn't find him first, or else he'd have killed him.
Smug Snake: Moore, who is unmoved by the verbal beatdown Chapman and Friday give him. He simply asks how much time he can expect in the pen. "Not long enough," replies Friday.
Teens Are Monsters: Averted in many ways; Friday and Smith visit with the president of a local National Hot Rod Association club and learn that there are very strict rules to which members must adhere, from conduct to their cars and so forth. Any violations land members in trouble and serious infractions will get them kicked out.
In the end, it is revealed the stereotypical hot-rodding teenager (Moore) to be the driver of the car that struck and killed a young, pregnant woman. Friday minces no words that this kid gives law-abiding hot-rodders a bad name.
