After school, Dora has some exciting news to tell the viewer: she has a new puppy named Perrito and she and Boots have to bring a gift from Abuela to her house. But they must get Perrito's present home quickly because Swiper has some new swiping tricks up his sleeves! He uses a swiping grabber toy; he builds a swiping Robot Butterfly; he uses super fast rocket skates; he hides in a submarine fish; and he even disguises himself as an eleventh dancing tree! But what happens when Swiper finds out that the present is for Perrito? The surprise ending must be seen to be believed!
Tropes:
- Borrowed Catchphrase: The robot butterfly exclaims Swiper's catchphrase "Oh, man!" after failing to swipe the present from Dora.
- A Dog Named "Dog": Dora's puppy is named "Perrito," which is Spanish for "puppy."
- Hoist by His Own Petard: Swiper constructs a robotic butterfly programmed to swipe whatever object he wants it to. However, after Dora and Boots stop it from swiping Perrito's present, it decides to swipe its creator's mask and gloves instead.
- Humiliation Conga: Swiper is even more of a Butt-Monkey in this episode than usual, as each of his attempts to swipe the presents from our heroes fail in humorous ways.
- He accidentally gets a hold of a skunk with his grabber gadget, and upon taking a whiff of the smelly animal, he runs off repulsed.
- His robot butterfly, after an unsuccessful attempt to swipe the present from Dora, decides to strip him of his mask and gloves instead, forcing him to chase it down.
- While Tico successfully slows down his car to allow it to go over the muddy puddle, Swiper fails to do so in time and ends up getting covered in mud as he slides across it. To add insult to injury, he ends up hanging on a tree branch once that happens.
- When Dora manages to retrieve the present from the water before he does, he is suddenly ambushed by a massive fish as he is piloting a fish-shaped submarine at that time.
- MacGuffin: Perrito's present.
- No Plans, No Prototype, No Backup: For any of Swiper's gadgets.
- Pet the Dog: Swiper manages to get Perrito's present but Dora told Swiper that the present was for Perrito.
- Precious Puppies: Even Swiper has a weakness for puppies and won't keep a gift once he learns that it's for Perrito. Swiper also has a book about puppies that his Grandmother reads to him whenever he sleeps at her house.
- Smelly Skunk: Dora and Boots come across one and wisely leave it alone. However, Swiper's attempt to steal from them results in him grabbing it. He doesn't get skunked, but it still sends him running.
- Swiper, No Swiping!: Surprisingly, not used against Swiper himself, but against his robotic butterfly with the alternate phrase being "Butterfly, no swiping!".
- Throw the Dog a Bone: Subverted when Dora tells Swiper that the present was for Perrito.
- What Happened to the Mouse?: It is not made clear what happened to Swiper's robot butterfly after swiping its creator's mask and gloves.
