Dante accidentally breaks his jukebox. While trying to fix it, Patty notices a framed record and asks about it. Dante explains it was his favorite, but it was scratched, and he cannot find a replacement because the name was worn away. Dante is hired to bodyguard some treasure hunters excavating an old mansion for antiques. During the dig, one of them, Tim, plays a record, and Dante is pleased to learn it is his favorite, "Mermaid Rock" by Elena Huston. Several minor demons attack the mansion, but Dante makes quick work of them, but then a mermaid demon with a sonic scream, attracted by the music, attacks. After a brief battle with Dante, she retreats. Shocked, Tim recognizes her as Elena Huston.
Tim explains that he and Elena were childhood friends, and he became her manager when she aspired to be a singer. When they started having trouble getting gigs, Elena became furious and drove him away. Out of nowhere, people started coming to her shows, but they seemed to be possessed, and many of her new fans seemed psychotic and started killing each other or committing suicide. Elena then disappeared. In flashback, the mermaid demon revealed herself to Elena and said she was responsible for granting her wish for fans. Horrified, Elena protested that she didn't want it like that, but the demon said too bad, and as payment, she took Elena as a host body.
Tim and Dante play "Mermaid Rock" again to attract the demon, then Dante battles her. Eventually, Dante hurls his sword, Rebellion. Miraculously, Rebellion passes harmlessly through Elena's body, but drives the mermaid out of her body and pins her against a wall, killing her. Tim holds Elena and she begs forgiveness for driving him away, which he grants. Out of gratitude, Tim repairs Dante's jukebox and gives him his "Mermaid Rock" record to replace his scratched and worn out one. Elena is later shown happily greeting Tim as he comes home from work, implying they got married or are at least seeing each other.
