Osiris emerges from the Infinite Forest after the final defeat of the Undying Mind, sharing a new simulation that emerged of the complete destruction of the universe. Several psions of the Red Legion have taken control of the Sundial, a device Osiris built meant to coordinate the powers of the Infinite Forest to your own will. They seek to undo their defeat in the Red War, and you must fight them across the different timelines they have created.

Season of Dawn includes examples of:

  • All of Time at Once: The area around the Sundial has the three time periods of Mercury - the present, the past, and the Bad Future - all converging on it at the same time.
  • It Only Works Once: In order to take Saint-14's light from him, the Vex had to create a specific Vex Mind targeted to his exact light frequency, which took them the equivalent of millions of years to do so. Once you rescue him, restore his light and destroy that Vex Mind, the effort the Vex made was said to be impossible to replicate.
  • Set Right What Once Went Wrong: In the distant past, Saint-14 was a legendary Titan and friend of Osiris who tried to follow him into the Infinite Forest but got lost, and after the equivalent of centuries fighting Vex was killed after having his light taken from him. Using the Sundial, you Guardian is able to track Saint-14 across important moments in time to prevent his death and bring him into the present day.
  • Stable Time Loop: Foreshadowed by the lore in Curse of Osiris, the Perfect Paradox shotgun you got was a replica of Saint-14's favored weapon. But the shotgun was given to him by a mysterious time traveling Guardian in the distant past, which you end up doing this season.
