Recap / Darkwing Duck S 1 E 61 Dirtysomething

Go To

Due to a lack of funds, F.O.W.L. forces Ammonia Pine to work with her filth-obsessed sister Ample Grime for their latest scheme. Meanwhile, Gosalyn gets into recycling to try and save enough money for a video game, but overdoes it and deprives D.W. of his important crimefighting tools exactly when he needs them.

This episode includes examples of the following tropes:

  • Arson, Murder, and Jaywalking: Upon returning to his hideout, Darkwing discovers that Gosalyn had recycled his supercomputer, chemistry set, and comic book collection, the last of which he considers the last straw.
  • Buses Are for Freaks: After Gosalyn sells off the Ratcatcher and the essential components of the Thunderquack, Darkwing and Launchpad are left with no choice but to take a bus to get around St. Canard. Not only is it crowded, but right after Darkwing finds an empty seat, an old lady comes up, smacks him with her purse, takes his seat and scolds him. When the bus reaches their stop, Darkwing and Launchpad get shoved off the bus for some unknown reason.
Darkwing: The worst part of public transportation... is the public.
  • Laser-Guided Karma: After all the trouble Gosalyn causes him by recycling his crimfighting gear, the end of the episode has Drake give Gosalyn the video game she had wanted, only to remind her that she can't play it because of her punishment: he had recycled the television's parts.
  • Ridiculous Exchange Rates: Apparently, recycling doesn't earn very much. After Gosalyn and Honker turn in hundreds of soda cans, they only receive a few coins. Even all the stuff of Darkwing's that Gosalyn recycled was only worth less than two dollars, much to Darkwing's dismay.
Darkwing: That's all you got in exchange for the best crime-fighting equipment in the world?
    Gosalyn: Well, it was used.
  • Teeth-Clenched Teamwork: Ammonia Pine can't stand her sister Ample Grime due to their contrary natures.
