The Toyman returns to get revenge on Garth, but he has a surprise weapon for Supergirl and Bumblebee.
Tropes:
- Bond Villain Stupidity: Toyman could have disposed of Garth quickly, but he instead chooses to build a larger version of his favorite board game "Death Trap". As a result, the Rube Goldberg Machine takes forever to deploy, giving Supergirl enough time to rescue Garth.
- Brought Down to Normal: The gold kryptonite temporarily removes all of Supergirl’s superpowers, leaving her powerless. Bumblebee's gear also gets damaged in the process, although it's a bit unclear if it's from the impact or the kryptonite.
- Continuity Nod: Garth gives a brief summary of his first meeting with Toyman. Kara and Garth's recently developed friendship also gets expanded a bit.
- Minor Injury Overreaction: Having no fast healing powers anymore, Supergirl reacts badly to a skinned knee.
- Right Behind Me: Played with. Supergirl loudly proclaims her lack of powers. Bumblebee tries to silence her before two ordinary thugs appear, ready to beat them both up.
- Shout-Out:
- The board game "Death Trap" is inspired by "Mouse Trap (1963)", with his own Rube Goldberg Machine death trap. It may also be a Mythology Gag to Batman: The Brave and the Bold's episode "The Music Meister", with a song of the same name (including a death trap).
- Like from Looney Tunes, another franchise owned by Warner Bros., when Supergirl tries flexing her arm muscle while powerless, her muscle droops like a wet noodle.
- Karen riding a bike through the air with an alien (Kara) in the basket, just like E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial, except it's during the day.
- You Have GO Tto Be Kidding Me: Kara has this reaction at the discovery that Gold Kryptonite exists.
