Concerned about Rozetta's warning that it's not over, the GBPD decides to send the player and Gloria to the University to find any information on her past. Just as soon as that decision's made, Dean Walker phones in for help after student Cindy McMinn is found cut in half.Tropes:
- A Day in the Limelight: Martine becomes your partner in part of the AI helping Professor Harris and his students finish Butcher Lake.
- Chainsaw Good: Befitting of a slasher villain, the murderer killed Cindy by cutting her in half with a chainsaw.
- Disproportionate Retribution: Cindy was to transfer to another college, and Toby couldn't reshoot the movie without causing major production problems. That sucks, but is it really "slice her in half with one of the most violent tools known to man" worthy?
- Final Girl: What Cindy was playing in the student slasher movie. Martine later takes Cindy's place in the final scene to help the other students finish filming.
- Half the Man He Used to Be: Cindy got sliced in two with a chainsaw.
- Shout-Out:
- More than a few to The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, for obvious reasons.
- Toby Hansen is a twofer for having director Tobe Hooper's first name (spelled more traditionally), and the surname of Gunnar Hansen, Leatherface's actor.
- Speaking of, Gunnar Burns has the actor's first name.
- Sally Hooper references Tobe again, while having the first name of Sally Hardesty, the Final Girl of the movie.
- Toby's M.O. of disguising himself as his movie's villain is akin to Basil Karlo (before he underwent that Voluntary Shapeshifting procedure, of course).
- More than a few to The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, for obvious reasons.
- Snuff Film: The killer recorded Cindy being murdered. It makes sense, since Toby is the killer and wanted the film finished one way or another.
