Go To

After learning that demons are roaming the earth, the Hunters are stopped at a gas station near Las Cruces, New Mexico by tour guide Kevin East, telling them that one of his passengers, Marigold Carson is missing, and that her duffle bag is bloody... Soon, they find Marigold's head in it.

Tropes:

  • Asshole Victim: For how popular she is online, it's safe to say Marigold didn't have any real life friends. Tiffany, when it's found out that she's her killer states she only saw darkness in the former's heart.
Tiffany: These dolls can't see into the hearts and souls of you humans, but I can! And I could see right through Marigold's soul, and all I saw was darkness!
  • Call-Back: This case might be a reference to two certain cases from Pacific Bay, this case has both a victim with her mouth stitched shut and a doll littered place.
  • Creepy Doll: Tastefully for a case that has you go to The Island of The Dolls, there's going to be some of these. Also, fittingly enough, the killer turns out to be a doll.
  • Enfant Terrible: Subverted with Tiffany, she may look like a child, but actually she's a murderous enchanted doll who chopped Marigold to bits, her "grandfather" José states that she had a outbursts but was able to calm her with his offerings.
  • Literally Shattered Lives: Tiffany, being revealed as a murderous doll is on the receiving end of this by Gwen.
  • Lonely Doll Guy: José, who lives on the Island of Dolls obviously qualifies. His "granddaughter" Tiffany is actually a doll who came to life that he adopted.
  • Mouth Stitched Shut: Marigold's, specifically a backstitch was used. From Ben's experience knowing that it's one of the strongest stitches out there, this reveals her killer knows how to sew.
  • Older Than They Look: Tiffany, who's an enchanted doll states she has been lifeless for decades., so she's not actually 10 years old at all.
  • Off with Her Head!: Marigold not only got her head chopped off, but everything else too.
  • Ominous Owl: When you find the rest of Marigold's body, Ben finds an bloody owl statuette in of the pockets, Felix informs that in Mexican superstition, owls are harbingers of death and darkness. This reveals that the killer believes in Mexican superstitions.
  • Perverse Puppet: Tiffany, when it's revealed she's why Marigold lost her head. Thankfully she's the only one Gwen and the player had to deal with.
  • The Punishment Is the Crime: Although José is technically an accomplice to murder since he knew Tiffany was dangerous but didn’t do anything about it, Ben and the player character decide not to arrest him, reasoning that being alone on an island of creepy dolls is punishment enough.
  • Shout-Out:
  • Spiders Are Scary: One of the killer's traits is that they collect spiders, also, a spider jumps on Gwen's hair at the end of Chapter 1.
  • Spooky Séance: In the Additional Investigation, the hunters conduct one of these to contact the seral killing ghost. Suffice to say, the ghost isn't happy about that and threatens them that they'll end up like a certain Greg Schmidt if they continue... This is probably what prompts them to go to Texas to find the cop.
