Written & storyboarded by Katie Aldworth & Aleth Romanillos

Kelsey starts a super-secret book club to introduce Craig and JP to the joys of reading.

Tropes:

  • A Day in the Limelight: Paintball Benny and Stacks
  • Book Safe: Stacks uses one to make her book report transactions. The client puts candy inside, she replaces it with a thumb drive with the report.
  • Food Porn: The first chapter of Baronica and the Time Spoon is mostly dedicated to describing various kinds of pudding, judging from what Craig is seen reading. When he and J.P. discuss the book, they mostly rave about pudding.
  • Forbidden Fruit: Craig and J.P. don't want to read Kelsey's book, mainly because they have so much assigned reading. Kelsey forms the Secret Book Club with Stacks as a ruse to make Craig and J.P. read it by stressing the club's secrecy, which make them think that reading the book is somehow forbidden.
  • Gilligan Cut: Paintball Benny confiscates the book as "evidence"; cut to him joining the book club.
  • Mistaken for Spies: Paintball Benny catches Craig wandering into his territory and thinks he's spying for Paintball Mike.
  • "Reading Is Cool" Aesop: Craig and J.P. are not fond of reading for fun the way Kelsey and Stacks are, but once they start reading Baronica and the Time Spoon, they start getting engrossed in the story. When Paintball Benny dismisses the book, Craig gives an empassioned speech about how books can act as portals to worlds of adventure.
  • Skewed Priorities: The title character of Baronica and the Time Spoon. Who has the ability to travel in time, but is only interested in pudding.
  • Toilet Humor: To get privacy while reading, Craig locks himself in the bathroom and rigs a device that fakes bathroom noises by pouring liquids from various bottles into the toilet. Including a thick gel to simulate, er… going Number Two.
