The crew manage to catch a bounty and bring it to Ganymede where Jet finds that his ex-girlfriend, Alisa, who left him one day without any explanation, runs a small bar there. As he goes to visit her, Spike gets info about a new bounty... who happens to be Alisa's current boyfriend.

%%!! !! Long Summary
The Bebop arrives at Ganymede to turn in a bounty, while Jet stares at a pocket watch he's holding. He remembers the watch and a note laying on a bed, then a woman walking away in the rain. The local officer who picks up their call is an old friend of Jet's, and they have a brief catch-up. Spike and Faye learn that Jet is former ISSP (police) and was nicknamed the "Black Dog", because once he got his teeth into something he never let go. The officer also brings up Jet's ex-girlfriend Alisha, telling him she now runs a small bar at the port.

Once they land, Spike performs maintenance on his ship and Faye works on her suntan. Jet visits the rundown bar, asking a shady character there if he can see the owner. He denies knowledge of her and reaches into his jacket, but Alisha steps out from the back saying it's OK. The man leaves and the two catch up over a drink. The bar is going out of business, and Alisha's going to leave town. The shady guy is her boyfriend Rhint. Jet's a bounty hunter now.

While Jet is at the bar, the officer calls the Bebop again and Spike picks up. He receives a hot tip on a fresh bounty… Rhint is wanted for murdering a loan shark (who Alisha had borrowed from).

Jet brings out the pocket watch and places it on the table. He reminds her that on the day she left him, all she left behind was the watch and a note with the word "farewell". He just wants an explanation why she left without saying goodbye. She dodges the question. Jet leaves.

Rhint comes back, and begins to panic when he learns of Jet's occupation, feeling that Jet is here to arrest him. Alisha suggests they run: They immediately board a speedboat and take off. Spike, flying over, spots the boat, follows and opens fire. Rhint returns fire with his pistol, and escapes into a tunnel. Pulling up, Spike narrowly avoids Jet's ship. Spike says he's chasing a bounty, and sends over Rhint's bounty post. After a pause, Jet says he'll take care of this solo. Spike expresses doubt, asking if Jet will let them get away (suggesting he knows of their connection). Jet says the "Black Dog" will settle this issue that's on his former turf. Spike leaves. Fleeing into another narrow channel, Rhint and Alisha don't have it so easy this time: Jet squeezes in and follows close behind. He uses his ship's grapple to tear off the boat's engine.

As they retreat to a dock, Jet disembarks and closes in on the couple. Alisa points the pistol at Jet and begs him to let them go. He says if he doesn't capture them, someone else will. She fires a few warning shots, hands trembling. She says she left because he was too controlling, and she wanted her own life, to make her own decisions.

She drops the gun, then drops to her knees sobbing. Jet lays out a blubbering Rhint, telling him to be strong and take care of Alisha. The police arrive. Jet says that Rhein will probably get off on an self-defence plea. Alisha says she'll wait around for Rhint's release. Jet takes the watch out of his pocket, and throws it into the deep water.

* MobDebt: [[TeamDad Jet]] catches up with an old ex named Alisa. After she left Jet, she opened up a little bar, but an economic downturn had all but killed it. She took out money from a LoanShark, hoping to ride out the bad economy, but was unable to meet the payments and was being menaced over it.

* StopHelpingMe: Alisa's reasoning for leaving Jet, stating she couldn't stand him making all the decisions in their relationship. She even says as much when Jet warns her the consequences of going on the run when Rhint gets a bounty on his head. At the very least though, she is grateful that Jet did stop them since Rhint will likely get off on a self-defense plea and they won't have to watch their backs for bounty hunters.

* YouWouldntShootMe: Jet never actually says the phrase, but it's implied when he finally catches up to his ex-girlfriend Alisa and her new boyfriend Rhint. The latter is injured while Alisa points a loaded gun at Jet, who is at this point an exceedingly easy target. Alisa shoots a few bullets that all miss; Jet approaches; Alisa puts the gun down.

* PoorCommunicationKills: Alisa's FatalFlaw. Jet was more then willing to hear her out on why she left him, not trying to rebuild their old relationship or trying to blame her, just wanting closure. But she never could tell him in the past and still can't when they meet up again. It took going through a chase sequence that she finally relents.

* IJustWantToBeFree: Alisa's ultimate explanation why she left Jet - certainly, he cared for and protected her, and she was always "waiting at home" for him. But he made all her decisions for her to the point she felt like a child. When she left, it was to decide something for herself, even if it was a terrible decision, and face the consequences. Jet doesn't deny what she says, but his actions leave it ambiguous whether he's learned anything from her.

%%* TheUnfairSex: Through most of the episode, flashback and current day, Alisa never gives Jet the reason why she left him, despite him saying he wasn't going to blame her, instead continuing to dodge the question. It took Jet having to chase her boyfriend and her down in his ship and stopping their boat that she finally explains herself: she couldn't stand that Jet made all the wise decisions in their relationship claiming "she wanted to live her own life". Despite the fact that her boyfriend got the bounty on him because ''she'' had borrowed money from a loan shark resulting in him killing the loan shark out of self defense. And putting both of them in danger by ''suggesting'' they go on the run. Or you know, ''just talking to Jet about it in the first place''! Yeah, ''[[SarcasmMode real]]'' nice reasoning, Alisa.
%%** A major part of the episode seems to be who was in the right in Jet and Alisa's relationship. Jet was just happy to have something to come home to. Alisa wanted more freedom in her relationship, even stating at the end of the episode that she ''wanted'' to make mistakes, just so they'd be hers. Due to Bebop's heavy show don't tell policy, we never truly learn who was right. And despite all that happened, it's implied Jet never truly learned his lesson. He simply passes the role of "protecting" Alisa off to Rihan. About five seconds after Alisa told him she didn't want to be protected. Then again she got into the situation the first place because she ''had'' to be protected and her refusing help from the people who care about her well being could just be seen as a child not willing to grow up. Whether or not Alisa tried to talk to Jet about their relationship never comes to light. So ultimately neither are in the right in the end and pretty much still at an impasse (though Jet at least gets some closure). However the episode leaves it up to the audience to come to their own conclusions.
