A Plot: When The Ruby cafe suffers serious damage after a fire in the kitchen, Brent hopes Lacey’s insurance will cover the cost quickly so that she can rebuild and re-open as soon as possible, but the situation forces her to confess to Brent that she isn’t sure she wants to – and in fact, isn’t sure she’s going to remain in Dog River. Brent has to decide whether to convince her to stay, or do the right thing and let her make up her own mind unencumbered. But can he do that without knuckling under and spilling his true feelings for her?

B Plot: Unsure of what the future holds, the other characters each project where they see themselves in the years ahead – each prognostication more ridiculous than the other. Hank is the most unsure, and worries that it may already be too late to start planning, but Brent admits that Hank's at his best when living in the "now".

C Plot: Wanda deals with a guilty conscience, believing herself to be the reason The Ruby burned down.

  • Book Ends: As indicated by the similar titles, this Season Finale has a few parallels to the very first episode of the original series, "Ruby Reborn". Primarily, while "Reborn" focused on Lacey struggling to be accepted as a newcomer, "Re-Burn" focuses on the town struggling to let her leave.
  • Brain Transplant: In Wanda's vision of what she'll be doing five years in the future, she convinces Ryan Reynolds to replace his brain with Hank's for scientific advancement, and also to make him more willing to take his shirt off.
  • Holding Hands: Brent takes Lacey by the hand with her eyes closed so he can show her how they fixed up the Ruby. Becomes an Accidental Hand-Hold when, after several seconds, Lacey slyly asks Brent how long he's going to keep holding her hand. He awkwardly pulls away and shoves his hands in his pockets while apologizing, but she continues to smile furtively at him.
  • House Fire: The instigating event of the episode is The Ruby catching on fire.
  • Imagine Spot: Repeatedly throughout the episode, characters are depicted imagining either what they plan to do in their future, or what they think would've happened if they had made different decisions earlier in life.
  • Irony: It turns out at the end of the C Plot that The Ruby actually burned down because of cheap smoke alarms with faulty wiring.
  • I Want My Beloved to Be Happy: Brent considers his feelings towards Lacey when she considers whether or not to leave Dog River with an insurance payout. Not only does he decide to avoid influencing her decision, he also rallies the town into repairing The Ruby for free so Lacey doesn't have to spend the insurance money on it. He does end up confessing his emotions to her when he thinks she's still leaving, but it turns out she was just retrieving her aunt's clock that she salvaged from the fire and left in her car.
  • Leaning on the Fourth Wall: Emma's vision of what she originally imagined her future would be like depicts her as a lounge singer performing the Corner Gas theme song.
  • No Sympathy: The moment Wanda learns that the Ruby burnt down not because of a mistake she made, but due to faulty smoke detectors she had advised Lacey not to buy, Wanda takes a few moments to gloat about it.
  • Oblivious Guilt Slinging: Throughout the episode, Davis and Karen debrief their current investigation of the fire at The Ruby with Wanda, who's (incorrectly, as it turns out) convinced she's responsible for it because she didn't turn off an appliance Lacey asked her to when Lacey was running late to a meeting with Brent.
  • Out-of-Character Alert: When Brent decides to put Lacey's happiness over his feelings for her, and encourages her to follow her dreams even if they're outside of Dog River, a grateful Lacey asks if he'd like a chili dog and is surprised when he claims to not be hungry.
  • Season Finale: This episode is not only the Season 4 finale, but the final episode of Corner Gas Animated entirely.
  • Shout-Out: Davis states that everyone's a suspect for starting a fire at The Ruby except for Billy Joel, because of "We Didn't Start The Fire". Later, Karen's plans for her future are to re-live either Se7en or Kindergarten Cop, and Davis' Imagine Spot of his own future depicts him as RoboCop.
  • Special Guest: Ryan Reynolds appears in Wanda's Imagine Spot of the future, being asked by her to remove his shirt as part of a scientific experiment.
  • Status Quo Is God: At the end of the episode, Lacey's decided to stay in Dog River, and also use her insurance payout to replace the chairs and tables with what they looked like before (rather than the town's attempt to replace them with wooden boxes). The townsfolk have also returned to status quo, belittling Lacey for a minor slight (the clock she salvaged is slightly off-place from where it used to be) after spending the episode concerned about her.
  • Suspiciously Specific Denial: When the cops inform Wanda that they may have found the cause of the fire at The Ruby (without actually accusing her of it), she claims they didn't, it's all circumstantial, and that everyone has the right to a fair trial, all in the same breath before running for it.
