Go To

Zeta Team (consisting of Grimlock, Cera, and Alice) head to Chernobyl to locate the Iacon Relic there. But standing in their way are Shockwave and the Dark Knights, making this mission difficult.

  • Allohistorical Allusion: It's mentioned that the body of a Britannian was found in Chernobyl sometime after the disaster was contained, opening the possibility the plant was sabotaged by Britannia. One real life conspiracy theory posited by those sympathetic to the Soviet Union is that the plant was sabotaged by the West.
  • Always a Bigger Fish: As tough as Grimlock was, even he wasn't a match for the Driller.
  • The Bad Guy Wins: Shockwave secures the Driller for the Decepticons' victory this round.
  • Bittersweet Ending: Shockwave and the Dark Knights gain the Driller, however, Mao/Refrain gets killed off in battle. Also, Joseph Fenette's message gets passed on to Cera by Marianne (in Anya's body), with Sancia, Dalque, and Lucretia being in on the plot too.
  • Character Death: Mao gets bisected by Cera's Akatsuki, ending his suffering once and for all.
  • Commonality Connection: Alice and Grimlock bond over the fact that they've both been horribly experimented on alongside people they care about.
  • The Cameo: Shockwave's 'Nemesis Project' makes a very brief appearance in this chapter, his full appearance will be developed later.
  • In Spite of a Nail: Despite all the radical differences in the timeline, the Chernobyl Nuclear Accident still ocurred.
  • Not So Stoic: In a rare moment, Rakshata looked so scared by the Driller's appearance she dropped her pipe onto the floor.
  • Outside-Context Problem: The Driller is the first and so far only relic that is a living creature as opposed to an object.
  • Wham Episode: Mao is killed. Shockwave recovers the Driller. Sancia, Dalque, and Lucretia are revealed to be working with Marianne/Anya and Joseph.
