Go To

Fresh off from the victory in Europe, Optimus and the gang move in to save Empress Tianzi and get the Chinese Federation on their side.

  • Adaptation Distillation: Since Tianzi and Schneizel's marriage happens almost immediately after Zero's group win in Europe, Lelouch isn't the one to challenge Schneizel to a chess match - Optimus is. During the heroes "last stand'', meanwhile, Wizard is the one to get the High Eunuchs to make an Accidental Public Confession, while Grimlock is the one to take the Shinkiro's role of protecting Xingke and Tianzi from the enemy's ultimate attack.
  • Behemoth Battle: The climax of the chapter has Bruticus fight Grimlock, which ultimately ends in Grimlock's favor when backup arrives to help him take down the combiner.
  • Dynamic Entry: Windblade punches Starscream in the face while he's monologuing, saving Tianzi's life.
  • Gilded Cage:
    • It's been revealed that Schneizel has the rest of his extended family living on his estate in the new Decepticon Empire, with the obvious implication that they can't leave said estate.
    • Tianzi wanted for nothing within the Forbidden City, but was never allowed to leave, ironically making her yearn for freedom.
  • Gotta Kill 'Em All: Xingke kills the remaining High Eunuchs once the battle comes to an end.
  • In-Universe Catharsis: Xingke expresses how great it felt to have slaughtered the men who exploited their empress.
    Grimlock: Feel good?
Xingke: (smiling) You have no idea.
  • Kid Has a Point: Laila is the only member of her family to realize that Britannia and the Decepticons aren't that different, and calls out her former nation for building itself atop genocide.
  • Know When to Fold 'Em: Schneizel and the Decepticons retreat once the Autobot reinforcements arrive and the people of the Chinese Federation are rebelling against the High Eunuchs for their treachery.
  • One-Man Army: Emphasized with Grimlock when he fights Bruticus who is also this trope and a great deal larger than him.
  • Strange Minds Think Alike: Warpath isn't the only one who thinks Starscream would run down a nation on record time and Xingke wonders why he still has such a high rank among the Decepticons.
  • What Happened to the Mouse?: The last we see of the former Britannian Imperial Family is them reacting with surprise as the Autobots interrupt the wedding. Word of God is that they were evacuated by the Decepticons offscreen.
