Recap / Code Prime - R1: Rebellion, 31 "School Festival Declaration"

Go To

At the Ashford Academy School Festival, Euphemia makes a special declaration for everyone. But Megatron has his own plans in mind.

  • Adaptational Context Change: Canonically, Shirley is the one who reveals that Euphemia is at Ashford. Here, it's Monica.
  • Adaptational Intelligence: In canon, Milly showed no signs of making any connection between Lelouch and Zero. Here, she casually reveals to him that she knows he is Zero, listing all the evidence she noticed since Zero's first appearance, and has been keeping quiet about it to everyone.
  • As You Know: Shockwave uses these exact words when explaining how the fundamental differences in the biology of Cybertronians and humans prevents him from artificially inducing a Geass.
  • Berserk Button: Knock Out nearly goes on a rampage at Ashford when the giant pizza dough lands on him, ruining his finish. Breakdown needs to keep him in line.
  • Borrowed Catchphrase: Euphemia ends her broadcasted speech with Optimus' words, 'Freedom is the right of all sentient beings'.
  • Brick Joke: Back in Chapter 7, Megatron mused that if Starscream learned Zero's identity, the first thing the Seeker would do is try to blow up Zero in his residency. Starscream admits he would've done just that when asked about it in this chapter.
  • Enemy Mine: Euphemia proposes the SAZ as both a way to allow for the Japanese to regain their nationality and to allow Britannia to unite with the Grand Alliance against the Decepticons.
  • "Eureka!" Moment: While Megatron does not have the ability to alter Geass energy... he had the means to corrupt it. Cue to the infusion of a shard of Dark Energon and liquidized Geass energy into Megatron's Spark Chamber leading to...
  • Hold Your Hippogriffs: Along with Lelouch, Rai, and Kallen (due to spending time with the Autobots), even Shirley starts to exclaim "scrap" whenever something goes wrong.
  • Internal Reveal: Stascream learns that Megatron figured out Zero's identity as Lelouch vi Britannia all along, much to the Seeker Commander's frustration. Schneizel also figures said fact out himself, having played chess with Lelouch in the past.
  • Kneel Before Zod: Having exposed V.V. to the power of the Dark Geass, Megatron forces the immortal into servitude, renouncing Charles and the Ragnarök Connection.
  • Shipper on Deck: Nunnally reveals this about Lelouch and Kallen, much to their embarrassment and everyone's humor. Including Bumblebee deciding to troll them by starting to play romantic music.
  • The Starscream: Schneizel makes a secret alliance with Megatron to overthrow his father.
  • Surprisingly Realistic Outcome: Shockwave is great with playing mad scientist, but that knowledge doesn't translate well to something mystical as Geass. Megatron acknowledges that Shockwave couldn't make that much progress in a few weeks especially when compared to Charles and V.V.'s decades of study.
  • Wham Episode: Megatron obtains his Dark Geass of Absolute Terror, which can kill anyone (even Code Bearers like V.V. temporarily) who looks at him by overwhelming them with pure fear.
  • Wham Line: When Princess Euphemia declares a ceasefire between Britannia and the Autobot-Black Knight Alliance, as well as her intentions to set up the SAZ and her hopes of uniting the two mentioned factions against the Decepticons.
