Recap / Chainsaw Man Season 1 Episode 10

Go To

After recouping from their defeat, Denji and Power go to train with the master Devil Hunter Kishibe, while Aki seeks out a new Devil contract.

The ending theme for this episode is "Dogland" by People 1.

Tropes:

  • Curb-Stomp Battle: In the two fights depicted, Kishibe easily bests Denji and Power with his sheer strength and superior tactics. Apparently he did this to the duo at least 20 times after his introduction to them.
  • Dramatic Wind: A sudden gust of wind kicks up dust right as Makima is introducing Kishibe.
  • Ignored Epiphany: Denji questions his sense of humanity after Himeno's death, wondering if he would be able to cry if the people close to him were to die as well. He decides to promptly ignore this as he doesn't want to dwell on negative thoughts.
  • Irony: Power and Denji, two people not exactly known for being the brightest people in this setting, deciding to beat Kishibe by using their intelligence. This ends up being subverted because they actually think of a good plan, but Kishibe is just a lot more experienced then they are and can still beat them easily.
  • Logical Weakness: When Power and Denji are fighting Kishibe in their house, Power quickly becomes anemic after using too much blood in her attempt to ambush the veteran devil hunter.
  • Smart People Wear Glasses: Parodied; Power and Denji decide to "use their brains" and try to beat Kishibe through smarts. When Kishibe comes to their house in the next day, they're both wearing glasses.
  • Two Lines, No Waiting: The first plot centers around Power and Denji being trained by Kishibe. The second plot sees Aki being mentored by Tendo and Kurose, culminating in him possibly gaining a new Devil contract.

Tropes specific to the ending credits
