Big Damn Heroes: We get an aerial zoom away from Ryan and Esposio unconscious on the floor, with the camera pulling away to the flames. Then Rescue 7 comes storming in through a 2-foot thick brick wall with oxygen masks.
Darkest Hour: Ryan and Esposito are trapped with the prospects looking grim, and both of them are injured and running low on air. Ryan calls his wife to apologize if this is going to be a Dead Guy Junior situation, but then Javi passes out and Ryan follows him shortly after.
Dead Guy Junior: While on the phone with Jenny and certain that he and Esposito are about to die of smoke inhalation, Ryan says if their baby is a boy, she should name him Javier. Esposito jokingly points out how odd that's going to look on an Irish kid. As it is, both survive and the child is a girl so the matter never comes up.
Face Death with Dignity: Ryan and Esposito remain admirably calm when trapped in a burning building with no hope of rescue. Ryan only starts breaking down when Esposito passes out shortly before him.
How We Got Here: The episode opens with Beckett outside a burning building speaking to Jenny on the phone, implying something terrible has happened to Ryan, then backtracks to show what led to that.
MacGyvering: Ryan finds an old phone and rigs it to the building's wiring in order to get a phone call out to Beckett.
