- Anonymous Benefactor: Carmen acts as this for the family she briefly meets (and by extension, the rest of their neighborhood) by setting up a trust fund.
- Bavarian Fire Drill: As Shadow-san notes, sneaking past several dozen trained guards would be impossible even for a man of his skill. His only option is to reveal himself and play the role of "Instructor" to get close enough to save Carmen.
- Explain, Explain... Oh, Crap!: When Tigress gets a call from the Faculty post-Shadow-san's escape with Carmen, she tells them about Shadow-san's arrival and his attacking Brunt to play the ruse on Carmen, ignoring the Faculty's growing looks of concern and anger until she finally realizes Shadow-san didn't actually contact them.
- My God, You Are Serious!: This sums up Shadowsan's reaction to realizing the highly skilled crew Carmen had been working with involved two young adults who have little skill in following people or combat, and the last member is a young hacker boy.
- Oh, Crap!: The Faculty have one as they realize Shadow-san has truly turned traitor to them, further compounded if Shadow-san is aligned with Carmen (and she with Acme). In this scenario, V.I.L.E. may not be as secret as they once believed.
- Spot the Thread: Only Le Chevre notices the inconsistencies in Shadow-san's ploy. While Shadow-san has a counter ready for how he got Carmen to trust him, when Le Chevre asks if Shadow-san has talked to the other Faculty, then he likely knows from them where and how the gems are to be transported. Shadow-san simply knocks Le Chevre out and tells the others to tie him up.
- Spy Speak: Carmen realizes that Shadow-san is playing a ruse when he cites her birthplace as Moscow, Russia, despite having been raised her whole life on the fact she was found outside Buenos Aires, Argentina. This, followed by his glance, tells Carmen he is playing her former classmates.
