King Hippo and Eggplant Wizard are fired by Mother Brain, and decide to venture out on their own showing her that they can just be as threatening as she is. Meanwhile, wanting to show Kevin how normal life used to be in Videoland, Princess Lana throws a royal ball inviting royals, leaders, and heroes from all over Videoland, including Princess Zelda and Link. King Hippo and Eggplant Wizard then take advantage of the distraction and steal the Triforce, which puts Zelda in danger.

- While recurring characters like Dr. Wright and Prince Plenty make cameos as guests, some of the guests at the ball are characters who only made appearances in the first season, like Bayou Billy, Loafer and the elders from "Three Men and a Dragon".
- Mega Girl, from "Happy Birthday Mega Man", can be seen dancing with Mega Man at the ball.
- The club's band from "The Trouble With Tetris", the Blockheads, is playing Lana's ball.
- Dances and Balls: Lana's desire to have one is the background of the episode. Which ends up being kind of weird since that only gives King Hippo and Eggplant Wizard the chance to sneak in and steal the Triforce while nobody's around, and the bulk of the episode is actually about protecting a dying Zelda and getting it back from them.
- Dragon Ascendant: With the Triforce in their possession, Eggplant Wizard and King Hippo are powerful enough to just knock Mother Brain out of sight, and set up their own operation.
- The Guards Must Be Crazy: As would probably be expected from a video game of this time, the Hyrule royal guards are comedically useless, leaving all the important work to be done by the named hero.
- I Surrender, Suckers: A rare heroic example, with Kevin and Link pulling it on the villains to get the Triforce back. It works, since again, no matter how powerful they are, King Hippo and Eggplant Wizard are total idiots.
- No Ontological Inertia: When they lose the Triforces, all the servants Eggplant Wizard and King Hippo conjured up with them disappear too.
- Villain Episode: Downplayed, while there's a still a decent amount of screen time on the heroes, both King Hippo and Eggplant Wizard have much a greater focus in this episode than they normally do, aside from being the main antagonists of the episode.
- You Have Outlived Your Usefulness: Mother Brain's plan was for Zelda to turn off the alarm system installed in Hyrule Castle. While King Hippo and Eggplant Wizard were successful with carrying out their mission for once, she abruptly fires them as she plans to use the Triforce to take control of Ganon's minions.
