Milo's got to return his overdue library book by 3:00 PM, or else he's in major trouble (and it's about 3:49 now)! But just as he's on his way, racing to the library — a kid in trouble! It's Rutger, and he’s stilt-walking for the street fair but he hasn’t even learned how! Too bad he’s already on the stilts! Will Milo manage to overcome all these hurdles and get his book back in time? And will both Rutger and Milo realize that leaving things 'til the last minute is sure to create the biggest hurdle of all?

Tropes in this episode:

  • Didn't Think This Through: Due to Milo keep putting things off as a result of procrastination, this is why most of his solutions from his novelty items didn't work out well in this episode:
    • To make Rutger safely land from his stilts, Milo uses his extendo-grabber so he can slowly land but it malfunctions as he was meant to take the grabber for some routine maintenance.
    • When Rutger heads to a beaver pond, Milo suggests for him to wade him far enough so he can jump out of the stilts. However, beavers start to chew on Rutger's stilts which led to Milo to use his beaver repellent. However once he tries spraying it, it was completely empty as he was meant to replace the can.
    • Milo then uses beaver treats to lure the beavers away from Rutger's stilts, which the plan eventually worked but Rutger still loses control of his stilts. He was meant to throw the treats out during spring cleaning but keeps putting it off.
  • "Eureka!" Moment: After Rutger's lands his stilts in wet cement, he finally stops moving, which solves his problem. The only problem is that Milo doesn't have enough time to return his overdue book on time since it was only two minutes before 3:00. Once Milo rushes the library to return the book, the librarian forbids him from running in the library so Milo uses his "Bird Brain" to think of a solution quickly where should be a loophole if they only have time to read it. Although Lizbeth was meant to say the read the strict library rules, Milo misheard her to read his overdue book that he didn't get around reading it. Eventually, he starting reading about indoor pole vaulting in his book which then got an idea as there's no way that there's a library rule about it, so he decided to take one of Rutger's stilts and pole vault to the return bin, returning his book just in time. The librarian checked if there's a rule about no pole vaulting but she didn't get around to write that rule although she's intended to it for a long time. Just before Milo can ask Rutger to jump off his stilt in wet cement safely, he decided to stay up here as he wanted to set up a pole sitting record but he kept putting it off.
  • Gilligan Cut: Milo only has two minutes to return his library book on time before 3:00 before the librarian punishes him. After seeing a runner holding his book thinking it was a race baton, Lizbeth replies to Milo that he can still make it on time. Cut to the librarian saying the exact opposite.
Lizbeth: You can still return your book on time.
    (cut to the librarian)
Librarian: Ha, ha, ha! He'll never make it in time!
  • My God, What Have I Done?: After Milo pole vaults himself to get his library book returned on time, the librarian checks her list of rules to see if there is a rule against pole vaulting. However, she didn't see it on the list as she was meant to put that rule for a long time but she keeps putting it off as a result of procrastination.
Librarian: Ha, I've got you now! There's got to be a rule against indoor pole vaulting in here somewhere.
[she skimmed through the list of rules trying to find the rule against pole vaulting]
Librarian: Oh no! It can't be! I always meant to add that rule, but I kept putting it off. No, no!
Milo: Procrastination will catch up with you. You should learn better habits.
  • Race Against the Clock: Milo needs to return his library book by 3:00 PM on time, or else the librarian will punish him like what happened to all of the other kids who didn't return their books on time.
  • Ridiculous Procrastinator: Due to Milo being a procrastinator by keeping things off, this is why none of his novelty items worked in this episode to help Rutger with his stilts.
  • Running Gag: Pretty much all of Milo's novelty items in this episode didn't work out as a result of putting things off. What lead to Rutger's problem in the episode was he was meant to volunteer for the street fair to learn how to use the stilts but he also kept putting off since now he doesn't know how to use them. After Milo pole vaults in the library, the librarian checked her list of rules against pole vaulting, but it wasn't written on the list as she kept putting it off. Even the Narrator can't think of anything funny to say at the end as he kept putting it off, too!
Narrator: Oh, huh? Apparently it was supposed to come up something funny to say here, but uh... well I just never did, huh? So, I don't know.

Milo and Wendell's Eggcellent Adventure

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/bandicam_2024_01_25_14_07_04_813.jpg

A Lemming Scout troop project has everyone looking after an egg as if it were a real live baby. Milo just wants to beat Wendell! All Milo has to do is be with his egg every minute of the day, and make sure absolutely nothing happens to it. Uh-oh Flamingo! Sanjay’s been painting near the hand-carved, hand-painted dog house his Mom made for Dookie Doo, and he’s spilled a tiny amount of paint on! His mother will freak when she sees this, and will never allow Sanjay to paint again. What will Milo do to win the "egg contest" AND save Sanjay's hide?

Tropes in this episode:

  • Defeating the Cheating Opponent: After a huge rolling ball crashes the garden shed in Wendell's backyard, Sanjay found some eggs that has Wendell's face in it, which revealed that Wendell actually cheated the troop project for the Lemming Scouts on looking after an egg, as he created backup copies just in case if his original egg breaks. Eventually, his original egg breaks after Dookie Doo hits him, causing Milo to win the contest.
  • Didn't Think This Through:
    • While Sanjay is painting a picture, he spilled a little bit of paint of Dookie Doo's hand-carved doghouse. To prevent him from getting in trouble from his mom, Milo uses a paint cannon to repaint the entire doghouse so the spot won't show up. However, Milo is seen standing on the hose for the cannon, which then caused a lot of paint to spray all over Sanjay's backyard. This eventually led to him, Lizbeth and Sanjay to repaint the entire backyard to cover the paint from the cannon.
    • To prevent Sanjay from getting distracted while painting which could spill in the doghouse again and to protect Dookie Doo from crushing Eggbert, Milo fetches the dog with a stick to distract her, hit Sanjay's paint bucket and brush, and to let go of Eggbert. Although it originally suggested, this caused Dookie Doo to get completely covered in paint and retrieves Eggbert again since Milo forgot to put him back.
    • Dookie Doo eventually arrives in a soccer game which is a big problem because once the ball hits her, Eggbert will crack, so Milo uses his soccer net in a spray can to make a goal in-between some trees so he can tell the soccer players to hit the specific goal. It didn't work out as the players kicked their balls at the goal into him which led to Dookie Doo escaping.
    • Dookie Doo finally lands at Wendell's house since Sanjay's mom doesn't let her bury stuff in their lawn so she buries stuff in his lawn. The problem is that she is planning to bury Eggbert in Wendell's yard, which he doesn't mind doing that. To distract her from burying it, Milo uses an old bologna sandwich with dried up gummy worms that he forgot to eat to feed her from burying Eggbert. Due to food being almost a month old, Milo accidentally sniffs the smell of it, causing him to faint. Although Dookie Doo indeed eats it and leaves Eggbert alone, it then rolls over the yard to hit the shed, which can cause Eggbert to break.
  • Egg Sitting: Milo has to protect his egg "Eggbert" for a Lemming Scout troop project to look after an egg as if it were a real baby and needs to beat Wendell in order to get his egg-sitting badge.
  • "Eureka!" Moment: To prevent Eggbert from hitting the shed before it breaks, Milo uses his "Bird Brain" to follow it very closely. Because he got into this by ignoring Eggbert, following it closely will get him out of this mess, although Lizbeth has a different more detailed plan to follow closely unlike Milo's. So Milo follows Eggbert closely by covering it with a blanket, which then rolls over, which then gets covered with leaves, some garbage cans, some logs, some lawn furniture and Dookie Doo, which becomes a big rolling ball which then hits the shed. The plan eventually worked for two reasons: one is that Eggbert was completely unharmed despite rolling like a big ball and two: all of paint covered from Dookie Doo comes off instantly, coming out completely clean. It was also revealed that inside the shed, Wendell got exposed from cheating after Sanjay and Lizbeth finds out that he has created backup eggs just in case. Eventually, Dookie Doo hits him and causes his original egg to break, causing Milo to win the contest.
  • Hurricane of Puns: The Narrator's dialogue just before an Act Break are full of egg-related puns. He even lampshades if he's going to run out of puns once the commercials start.
Narrator: Will Captain Flamingo end up with egg on his face? Are we just moments away from the scrambled Eggbert? And will I ever run out of egg-regious egg puns? Stay tuned!
    • He does it again once the episode closes:
Narrator: Yes, Sanjay's been eggs-onerated and Wendell's cheating has been eggs-posed! It's another egg-ceptional mission for Captain Egg- I mean Captain Flamingo!
  • Pop-Culture Pun Episode Title: The title is a reference to Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure.
  • Road Apples: Wendell accidentally steps on Dookie Doo's poop just when he tells Milo that he is going to get the egg badge for the Lemming Scouts since Dookie Doo is burying Milo's egg into his yard.
  • Way Past the Expiration Date: One of Milo's failed solutions to prevent Dookie Doo from burying Eggbert is to feed her an old bologna sandwich with dried up gummy worms that he forgot to eat. However, Milo accidentally sniffs the old rotten smell of it, causing him to faint, but she eventually eats it.
Milo: Remind me to get a refrigerated backpack.
