Bleah! Milo is used to starting his day with a heaping helping of Super Fruit Blast Grainy-O’s– but they’ve gone and changed the formula! Just then – a kid in trouble! Sanjay’s got to the very end of the latest Cruddy Buddies book – only to find the last page is missing! Will Milo and the gang learn that making something of your own is much better than accepting pre-packaged mystery solutions and that breakfast is the most important meal of the day? Probably.

Tropes in this episode:

  • Chekhov's Gun: In the beginning, Milo was about to eat a box of Super Fruit Blast Grainy-O’s for breakfast, but when he starts eating it, he spits it out, as the cereal tastes chewy, gooey and goopy. It turns out later at the end of the episode that the goopy stuff in Milo's cereal turns out to be the missing last page of the Cruddy Buddies "Missing Manuscript" mystery, hidden inside on every box as a mystery prize, meaning that he accidentally ate a page of a book in his cereal for breakfast.
  • Conveniently Interrupted Document: Sanjay was reading a Cruddy Buddies book when suddenly the last page of the book was missing, causing the mystery to be unsolved.
  • Didn't Think This Through: Milo uses his extendo-grabber to try to retrieve the bookstore clerk's copy of a Cruddy Buddies book (specifically "The Missing Manuscript Mystery") to check if it contains the last page that includes the solved mystery since all of the other copies of that book were sold out. Although the extendo-grabber didn't retrieve the book, he then uses his trampoline to reach high enough on a ladder to retrieve the book from him, causing both of them to fall from the ladder. When Milo was about to check if the last page is intact, a security guard stops him from checking as reading the last page of the mystery is cheating, despite Sanjay reading the entire mystery up until that point, and were kicked out from the bookstore. It turns out later in the episode that the clerk's copy of the book also has the last page missing.
  • "Eureka!" Moment: Due to Milo not getting breakfast earlier in the episode, causing him to not have enough energy for the day, Milo uses his "Bird Brain" that he started the day off with a bad start. He decided to go to a grocery store that sells Grainy-O's cereal as he can take out the "new and improved" ingredients, so it taste exactly like the old taste. He then checks on the back of the box that all of the old ingredients were kept intact meaning that the only new thing that is added to the cereal was that each box comes with a mystery prize that contains the missing last page of the Cruddy Buddies mystery, in which the mystery manuscript contains the Cruddy Buddies favorite cereal, which was revealed to be a box of new and improved Grainy-O's.
  • Insult Backfire: When Milo was about to use his "Bird Brain" to solve the missing last page problem, the security guard thinks that he called him a birdbrain, even if it wasn't meant to be taken literally.
Milo: How do I get out of this one, birdbrain?
Security Guard: Are you calling me a birdbrain?
Lizbeth: No! He's... Ugh, never mind.

The One and Owen-Only

Milo is soooooo sick of sharing everything with Thor. If only he could be an only kid! Careful what you wish for - Milo gets invited to spend the night at Owen's. Milo's psyched. But he finds there are many 'only child' rules and hardships he wasn't expecting. Just as he's about to start his protest — a kid in trouble! It's Thrasher. Seems his band (made up of his brothers) has made the semi-finals in a contest at the mall. But his brother, the drummer, is all drummed out! Will Milo be able to help Thrasher find a replacement drummer and win that "battle of the bands" at the mall? And will he actually miss Thor a bit?

Tropes in this episode:

  • All Drummers Are Animals: Due to one of Thrasher's band members getting "pretzel arm" after playing a lot of the drums and needs a replacement, Owen becomes the replacement for the band semi-finals as he can drum very good while being nervous. He got it from his overprotective mother as she used to play the marching band drums nervously when she was a kid.
  • Didn't Think This Through: Owen becomes the replacement for the semi-finals as one of Thrasher's band members got "pretzel arm" after playing with the drums too much. Although he made it to finals and decides to not go back so he can be adored by millions, he then gets a splinter, meaning that he can't play and win anymore.
  • "Eureka!" Moment: As a result of Owen getting a splinter after playing the drums a lot, Milo decides from his "Bird Brain" to make Owen's overprotective mom nervous by telling her just that, causing her to get very nervous and starts playing the drums nervously just like what she did back when she was a kid, becoming Owen's replacement for the finals and wins, which led to her going on tour with the band.
  • I Ate WHAT?!: Owen's overprotective mother gives her son, Milo and Lizbeth a glass of wheat juice for each, which Milo reacts badly after drinking it.
  • The Quiet Game: Owen gets Milo and Lizbeth to play one of his mom's favorite games, being the titular game as whoever can sit down and be quiet for the longest wins. Eventually, he wins after Lizbeth starts talking to Milo as she is sarcastically having fun playing the game which Milo replies that he is having fun.
  • Rapid-Fire Nail Biting: Happens to Lizbeth just before an Act Break due to Owen making it to the finals for Thrasher's band and deciding to not go back as he wants to continue drumming and be adored.
