Go To

Calvin is taking a math quiz at school, and decides to call on his alter ego Tracer Bullet to try to find the correct answer.

Tropes

  • Imagine Spot: Calvin is in one for almost the entirety of the math quiz, where he's a private detective trying to solve a case. The question on the quiz is the case he's solving, Ms. Wormwood is both the dame that puts him on the case and the thug who beats him up in an alley to get him off the case, Susie is the liaison who knows things and might be able to help provide information, the drinking fountain is a bar, and so on.
  • Insane Troll Logic: Calvin decides that the answer must be one billion, because it's the only number big enough to keep Susie quiet (Susie not letting Calvin cheat off her) and justify him getting assaulted by a thug in a back alley to get him off the case (stopped by Ms. Wormwood from going back to the drinking fountain).
  • Noir Episode: Tracer Bullet is an over-the-top parody of the noir detective, using the colorful prose associated with the genre and his panels drawn in a very stylized manner to evoke noir.
  • Private Detective: Calvin imagines himself as Tracer Bullet, Private Eye, to try to solve a math problem in school. It doesn't work.
  • Private Eye Monologue: The Tracer Bullet panels are made almost entirely out of these.
