"Run Silent, Run Deep" is the 20th episode of Season 2, and the 43rd overall. It originally aired April 19, 2006.

Synopsis:

The Tanglewood Boys from last season show up again. This time, they're accused of the murder of a man found buried in the end zone of Giants Stadium and Danny gets implicated as well. Back in the city, a banker is found dead in his hotel room. First blush suggests he was murdered by a call girl.

Tropes for the episode:

  • Foolish Sibling, Responsible Sibling: Danny's brother, Louie, ran with the Tanglewood gang, while Danny became a cop.
  • Hidden Wire: Louie hides a recording device under his shirt while talking to the Tanglewood leader in an effort to clear Danny's name.
  • Interrupted Intimacy: Stella and Frankie are interrupted in bed by her phone due to her being on call.
  • Jurisdiction Friction: At first, the NJ CSIs are reluctant to work with Mac, especially after being called out in the middle of the night by someone from out-of-state, but he reassures them that if the roles are ever reversed he would extend the same courtesy to them.
  • Sdrawkcab Alias: Frankie gives Stella a sculpture he named "Aresanob." She realizes later it's Bonasera spelled backwards.
  • Sequel Episode: With "All Access." This ep ends with Stella looking online to see what "aresanob" is, and being very shocked. The audience, however, has to wait till the next ep to find out why...unless they visited the web site given at the end of the ep to "see what Stella saw" (at the time, it's no longer there).
  • Urban Legend: The discovery of the first victim plays on the belief that Jimmy Hoffa could be buried there.
  • What Happened to the Mouse?: Louie is beaten, left in a coma, and never seen onscreen again. The only clue to his fate is that whenever he's mentioned, he is referred to in the past tense.
