Go To

The forty-fourth episode of Buzz Lightyear of Star Command, in which Buzz is framed for attempting to assassinate the president of the Galactic Alliance. Buzz escapes and goes on the run to find out who framed him, while his teammates are sent to find and arrest their own captain.

Tropes associated with this episode include:

  • Assassination Attempt: The true plot of this episode is that the Gargantians want the Galactic President killed.
  • Astonishingly Appropriate Interruption: What's a six-letter word for "solidifying by means of temperature decline"? "FREEZE!" No, that's not Buzz saying that, it's the SWAT team who has come to arrest him just as he figures out the answer.
    • Meaningful Echo: What do the rangers say when Buzz corners the Gargantians on their ship and declares them under arrest? All together now:
      Team Lightyear: "FREEZE!"
  • Borrowed Catchphrase: While Buzz is on the run in Tradeworld, a thug threatens to beat him "to infinity and beyond!"
  • Facepalm: Done by Tremendor when the other Gargantians fail their mission.
  • Frame-Up: One of the Gargantians' attempts to assassinate the president is sniping her while wearing a Buzz Lightyear suit so he'll take the fall. When that failed, the Gargantians try to manipulate the real Buzz to assassinate her for them.
  • Near-Villain Victory: The Gargantians almost got Buzz to assassinate the Galactic President for them but they missed one important detail: their Commander Nebula disguise doing paperwork.
  • Prison Episode: The Gargantians disguise themselves as Buzz and attempt to assassinate the president, which lands the real Buzz in prison.
  • Running Gag: Tremendor assumes that his soldiers' failed attempts are part of a longer game for victory. They just roll with it, not wanting to admit to him that they actually did fail.
  • Theme Music Power-Up: After finally exposing the Gargantians as the true assassins, Buzz is free to arrest them. Cue the triumphant theme playing over the chase scene. Needless to say, you'll want to cheer him on.
  • With Friends Like These...: While Mira and Booster are more sympathetic towards Buzz, XR just dives in and thinks the worst: that Buzz has turned to crime. When Buzz's name is cleared, XR immediately tries to tell Buzz that he never doubted him, much to the rangers' disbelief.
