In this episode, Gil and Goby see a very spooky haunted house on their way to school and they talk to the snail who lives there. She tells them that there is going to be a haunted house party that night. Gil and Goby go tell the other Guppies and they learn all about Halloween.

Tropes:

  • Bedsheet Ghost: Gil keeps seeing a ghost around the school, but at the party it’s revealed to just be Bubble Puppy with a ghost costume on.
  • Failed Attempt at Scaring: Gil tries to sneak up on Molly to scare her with a rubber bat, but ends up being scared by the even bigger rubber bat she’s holding instead.
  • Fashion Show: The Guppies put one on at the Halloween party to show off their costumes.
  • Halloween Episode: The Guppies are invited to a Haunted House Party on Halloween.
  • Halloween Songs: “Spooky!” and “Halloween Dance”
  • Haunted House: One of the Guppies’ neighbors is putting on a pretend haunted house for a Halloween party, but the appearance of a mysterious ghost makes them wonder if it’s not just pretend after all.
  • Leitmotif: A spooky Scooby Doo-esque sound effect plays whenever Bubble Puppy in the ghost costume shows up.
  • Michael Jackson's Thriller Parody: The dance moves for “Halloween Dance” are very similar to the ones in Michael Jackson’s video, especially the ending pose.
  • Monster Mash: The Guppies all dress up as different monsters during the dance scene for “Spooky!”: a zombie (Molly), a ghost (Oona), a vampire (Nonny), a mummy (Gil), a werewolf (Goby), and the Bride of Frankenstein (Deema).
  • Never Say "Die": When describing a zombie, Mr. Grouper says it’s “a very spooky monster” and just leaves it at that.
  • Real After All: During the episode’s wrap-up, Gil sees a ghost behind Molly and gets scared. She thinks it’s just Bubble Puppy again, but then the puppy shows up behind Gil and they all run away screaming. The episode ends with the real ghost giggling mischievously.
  • Scary Shadow Fakeout: In the Once per Episode Imagine Spot, Molly the zombie keeps getting scared by a spooky-looking shadow, but it’s just a cute little mouse trying to trick-or-treat.
  • Vampire Vords: Both Nonny and Mr. Grouper do this while pretending to be a vampire.
