Tropes

  • Abusive Parents: Delfino and Estela towards Enrique, mainly because he married a common woman instead of someone who is royalty. Apparently they are not fond of his wife either, banning her entrance from the castle. Delfino and Estela do apologize to Enrique at the end of the episode and offer to give him his position as heir to the throne back, and also tell him that they want to properly meet his wife.
  • Birds of a Feather: Ludwig and Delfina are a pair of Deadpan Snarkers that show contempt for the heir to the throne (Bowser Jr. and Fernando respectively). They get along pretty well.
  • Damsel in Distress: Fernando kidnaps Wendy as part of his plan. Thankfully, she's rescued by Travis.
  • Deadpan Snarker: Delfina is this, epecially to her brother Fernando. Not surprising that Ludwig takes an interest in her.
  • The Casanova: Fernando tries to seduce Wendy and seemingly steal her away from Travis. It later turns out that he was only doing this in order to kidnap Wendy for his dethroning scheme.
  • Chekhov's Gun: Iggy's "glorified water pistol" is mentioned at the beginning of the episode as yet another one of his crazy inventions. Iggy uses it nearly at the end of the episode to knock out Ozuna.
  • Clashing Cousins: Averted with Delfino and Bowser, but not with Delfino and Johann. Delfino always thought that Johann was boring and he's glad that someone finally took care of him.
  • Epic Fail: Morton succesfully packs his bags for the vacation to the Marine Kingdom, yet he somehow packed a coat when he was aware of it being mostly a beach-centered destination with hot temperatures.
  • Family Theme Naming: Most of the Marine Von Speckbohne family have Spanish names (Estela, Enrique and Fernando), whereas Delfina is named after her father Delfino XIII. All of it makes sense since the Marine Kingdom is inspired by both Isle Delfino and Spain and Latin-America.
  • Food Slap: Morton throws a soda on a beaten and aprehended Enrique's face, but only after this does he then realize that he has nothing to do with the assassination attempt against King Delfino and that Fernando is the one behind it.
  • Heir Club for Men: Downplayed. Although women can inherit the throne of the Marine Kingdom, the kingdom runs on a male-preference primogeniture, so after Enrique is disnherited by his father for marrying a commoner, the youngest son Fernando becomes next in line to the throne instead of Delfina, who is older than Fernando. At the end of the episode Enrique is given his position as heir back and Fernando is arrested, so Delfina is still second in-line to the throne until Enrique has kids.
  • Horrible Housing: The hotel in which Bowser and company are staying is not the best quality. The Wi-Fi password is on a a piece of paper that is blown by the wind and the refrigerators are filled with two-week expired food.
  • Human Popsicle: When Travis realizes that Fernando has kidnapped Wendy, he fights him, which ends up with him throwing Fernando into a pool, freezing it with his ice breath, and causing Fernando to become encased in ice. They free and restrain him later on.
  • Laser-Guided Karma: Junior tried to make Larry, Lemmy and Morton's vacation a living hell, but the only thing he achieved during his vacation was losing all of Bowser's money on a slot machine, getting thrown out of a bar by the bouncer, and then getting grounded by Bowser when he learns that he lost the money.
  • Logical Weakness: In a way, as Travis lives close to Sherbert Land in the Koopa Kingdom, which is, on average, cold all year-round, he can't take the heat of the Marine Kingdom, which is located at the south of the continent, too well. Truth in Television, as individuals used to colder temperatures who move to an area with higher temperatures will need a few days to get used to them. The same is also true in reverse.
  • Middle Child Syndrome: Delfina is Delfino and Estela's second child and only daughter at that. Because the monarchy of the Marine Kingdom favors male heirs, Fernando became the heir after Enrique was disinherited, which Delfina is clearly bitter about due to Fernando sucking up to their father.
  • Percussive Maintenance: Junior loses about 800 coins to a slot machine and tries kicking it in order to get it to spit his money out. The bouncer kicks Junior out of the bar for both kicking the slot machine and being an underage child using it.
  • Professional Butt-Kisser: Fernando to his father. Delfina points out that he does this because he is afraid that he'll disinherit him like he did with Enrique. Though it turns out that Fernando is actually plotting against his own father.
  • Red Herring: It seems like Enrique is the one conspiring to get his father overthrown and murdered out of spite of him disinheriting him for marrying a commoner, but in reality Fernando is the one behind the scheme, being completely ashamed of his father's outgoing personality and numerous scandals. Enrique even points out that if he were the one behind everything, it would be useless to him because he has no claim to the throne.
  • Royally Screwed Up: Fernando is implied to suffer from Bohnenkraut Madness, just like Johann XVIII and John VI did. Additionally, portraits depicting Koopas with what seems to be an unflattering Habsburg Jaw implies that the reason why a branch of the Von Speckbohne family, who are native of the Bohnenkraut Kingdom, rules the Marine Kingdom is because the previous royal family self-destructed due to decades of inbreeding.
  • Tampering with Food and Drink: Ozuna and Anuel lethally poison Delfino's meal under the orders of Fernando. Thankfully, Morton saves him.
  • Title Drop:
Enrique: Hm. So you guys must be Bowser's Koopalings.
    Lemmy: No, we're his housekeepers.
  • Named After Someone Famous: Ozuna and Anuel are named after Puerto-Riccan Reggaeton singers Ozuna and Anuel AA.
  • You Are Grounded!: Bowser Jr. gets grounded after Bowser learns that he lost 800 coins to a slot machine.
