Originally aired February 18, 2002

A drunk driving accident claims the lives of seven teenagers, three of whom attended Winslow. In the aftermath, Brooke questions her faith in God, while Ronnie struggles to work through her grief. Harvey attempts to comfort students by claiming he was George Washington in a past life. Harry tries to convince one of his students to repeat his senior year.

Tropes present in the episode:

  • Badass Teacher: When Harry is punched by one of his students, Martin, he not only punches him back but knocks him out. Unsurprisingly, he gets called out on it.
  • Crime of Self-Defense: Harry gets suspended for punching Martin, who punched him first.
  • Crisis of Faith: Brooke, who was close to one of the accident victims, dismisses God as "crap" and later an "invention."
  • Informed Wrongness: In-Universe, Harry harps at Scott for always assuming he's in the wrong after he and Steven confront him for punching a student (who punched him first, mind).
  • Jerkass Ball: Scott shows Ronnie zero sympathy as he chews her out for expressing her grief over Zach's death.
  • That's an Order!: Marla is hesitant to help Meredith, so Steven pulls this trope on her.
  • What the Hell, Hero?: Scott chastises Ronnie for acting out her grief in front of her students and coldly tells her to "cry at night."
