Recap / Bluey Exercise

Go To

The Heelers are in the bathroom, but Bandit is a bit downcast, since he weighed himself and he feels too heavy. The girls suggest he lose the weight by exercising, but he says it would make him late for work. The girls point out that Bandit's boss would want him to be happy, and he sees their point. Then, Chilli weighs herself and also feels too heavy.

Bandit goes outside to lift some dumbbells, but Bingo starts using them for a pretend car, then Bluey starts pretending to nap under his yoga mat. While Bandit does squats, the girls start playing "work". Then, Bandit starts lifting Bluey. When Bingo joins in, he falls over.

Then, he starts lifting the dumbbells, and Bluey has him lift Bingo instead. Then, while Bandit does jumping jacks, the girls play "cafeteria" and Bluey has Bandit roll Bingo up into the yoga mat as a sushi roll. He then pretends to dip her in imaginary soy sauce.

Bandit begins doing sit-ups, while the girls, continuing to play "work", stand on his feet. Then, the girls play ping-pong using Bandit as the ball. This makes him worn out, so he lies on the floor and Bingo jumps into his hands. The girls decide to pretend to slack off from their imaginary job by going on a rollercoaster.

When Bandit gets his energy back, the girls have him throw them around to pretend they're on a rollercoaster. After that, the girls continue to play their work game and have Bandit lift them again. Then, Bluey has Bingo lift Bandit's leg up.

Chilli exits with a flask of iced tea for Bandit, which Bluey tastes. She then spits it out (with Bandit drinking the rest of it) and yells at Bingo to tickle Chilli. Bingo then chases Chilli around the yard, while Bandit goes back inside and Bluey comments on the scene.

Later, Bandit and the girls go to the doctor, who comments that he has good blood pressure.

This episode provides examples of:

  • Accessory-Wearing Cartoon Animal: Bandit puts on a wristband to exercise, then later he gives it to Chilli.
  • Affectionate Gesture to the Head: When Bandit is commenting on his daughters helped him exercise, which he thinks must have improved his blood pressure, he pats Bluey on the head.
  • Barefoot Cartoon Animal: The doctor wears scrubs but no shoes.
  • Bowdlerise: Later airings and international releases removed the opening scene of Bandit and Chilli weighing themselves and deciding to go on an exercise routine after seeing their results, due to accusations of fat-shaming from viewers.
  • The Cameo: Crowded House frontman Neil Finn voices Bandit's physician.
  • Continuity Nod: Bluey is seen carrying her Polly Puppy toy from "Horsey Ride".
  • Exhausted Eye Bags: When Bandit is puffed-out after his exercise routine, he gets bags under his eyes.
  • Hypocritical Humour: Bluey says, "[Bingo and I] won't get in the way of you exercising," then later they do anyway (though they do also help him to exercise).
  • Offscreen Crash: Bandit falls into a bush offscreen during the "ping-pong" game.
  • Slapstick: Bandit twice falls over when holding the girls up.
  • Weight Woe: Bandit sighs and says, "Oh, man!" when he weighs himself, then later, so does Chilli.
