Recap / Biker Mice From Mars S 1 E 1 Rock And Ride

Go To

After a battle with some Plutarkian soldiers, Throttle, Vinnie, and Modo crash-land on Earth, where they befriend a human woman named Charley Davidson and learn that the planet is being strip-mined by Lawrence Lactavius Limburger, who is a Plutarkian himself.

This episode contains examples of

  • Early-Installment Weirdness:
    • When Throttle explains that most of the Martian mice were wiped out, the way he says it implies that he, Vinnie, and Modo are the sole survivors of their race. This is contradicted in later episodes, where other Martian mice who survived the Plutarkian invasion are introduced, such as Throttle's girlfriend Carbine and Modo's nephew Rimfire. Although he could mean a majority of their race has been wiped out.
    • Dr. Karbunkle is said to be responsible for Modo losing his arm and is shown to be impressed by the mouse's robotic replacement. A flashback in the episode "Verminator" and the three-part episode "Once Upon a Time on Mars", however, show that Karbunkle gave Modo his robotic arm himself.
    • Greasepit's voice sounds more gruff and less dim-witted than it does in later episodes.
    • When we first see the Biker Mice, they are flying around in space with no concern over the survival of their planet, when several later episodes reveal that in addition to preventing the Plutarkians from doing to Earth what they did to Mars, another goal of theirs is to undo the destruction that Mars suffered.
  • Shout-Out:
    • After Charley expresses disbelief at Throttle, Vinnie, and Modo being giant mice, Modo remarks "Were you expecting maybe, turtles?"
    • When Charley realizes Limburger's connection to the Plutarkians, she says "They're here" in the exact same inflection the phrase is said in Poltergeist.
    • The X-Terminator is an obvious reference to the Terminator, complete with speaking in an Austrian accent and his last line in the episode being "I'll be back".
