Recap / Big Time Rush S 2 E 7 Big Time Pranks

Go To

Big Time Pranks is an episode from Season 2 of Big Time Rush.

The boys' annual day of pranks suddenly takes a strange turn when the girls want to join too, turning the competition into an all-out battle of the sexes for the position of High Lord Prankerton.

Meanwhile, Logan ends up as an assistant to Dr. Hollywood, and Griffin forces Gustavo and Kelly to switch jobs to understand each other better.

This episode provides examples of:

  • Epic Fail: Logan tried to prank the other boys to become the King of Pranks by making destructive smoothies, but in his pride he accidentally detonates one himself, causing him to eliminate himself. And according to what Kendall says about it when he spots the mess made by it, this has happened quite a lot.
  • Gilligan Cut:
    • As Guitar Dude taunts the recently eliminated Jennifers for being pranked, they glare furiously at him. Cut to him in Dr. Hollywood’s office, with his guitar smashed on the back of his head.
    • Also, when a large group of girls spot Tyler carrying a wagon full of pies, they look at him sinisterly and he gets an Oh, Crap! face. Guess where he also ends up in?
  • Girls vs. Boys Plot: When the girls get wind of the boys refusing to let Katie play their prank war, they all challenge the boys to a prank war this way.
  • Human Shield: When Gustavo (acting as Kelly) comes to the boys to tell them to get back to the studio just as they are about to get pied by a large group of girls, the boys use Gustavo as this trope to prevent them from getting eliminated.
  • Plot Hole: Guitar Dude shouldn't have been eliminated when the Jennifers smashed his guitar over his head, since they were just taken out by glue sticks disguised as lipstick. Though he might've forfeited the game to visit the clinic and get his guitar removed.
  • Pranking Montage: This occurs when the boys quickly take out the girls one by one.
  • Rewatch Bonus: A few seconds before the first prank played on the boys from the girls, Katie is nowhere to be seen even though she was just beside Jo and Camille. That was because she was three of the boys together in the front by their own shoelaces.
  • Swapped Roles: As punishment for Kelly and Gustavo fighting, Griffin makes them do this trope in order for them to respect each other’s jobs.
  • Tempting Fate: Kelly thinks it will be easy to be as Gustavo, making a song. But when she actually has to perform one, she struggles and does a terrible one, causing Griffin to be unimpressed and Gustavo to burst out laughing.
  • Worth It: When Kendall and Katie see the pool totally closed for two weeks (as Bitters warned them this would happen if they continued their prank war) the latter says this.
  • Wouldn't Hit a Girl: When Kelly hits Gustavo, she protests on hitting her back with this trope. He replies that he can this time, because she is supposed to be Gustavo this time. Kelly decides to run away because of this.
  • Wounded Gazelle Gambit: When Camille gets smacked in the face by her own pie that she was planning on taking out the three boys, she cries and runs away. When the three boys go after her to apologize (as per the Logan Clause), it turns out she was faking all that to lead them into a MASSIVE pie ambush by surrounding and circling girls.
