Go To

Big Time Love Song is an episode from Season 1 of Big Time Rush.

When a new girl named Jo arrives at the Palm Woods, all four members of BTR are smitten with her and begin fighting for her attention, at the same time Gustavo assigns them to perform a love song for Griffin.

Meanwhile, Katie interviews Gustavo for a project, and James tries a cosmetic which he happens to have a severe allergic reaction.

Tropes:

  • Aesop Amnesia: After all failing to win Jo over, the boys vow to never fight over a girl again. But they immediately forget this when yet another girl shows up at the Palm Woods just having moved in. A watching Katie is quite exasperated by this.
  • All Girls Want Bad Boys: Carlos thinks that this trope applies to Jo, and goes with this angle to try to flirt with her. But she tells him that he must be applying for a play as a bad boy, because she hates bad boys in real life. So, Carlos quickly switches to being a British person, which infuriates a spying Logan because that was what he was originally going to use.
  • Angry Collar Grab: Kelly does this to Dr. Hollywood to give James the correct shot to make him sing a song.
  • Hypocritical Humor: When talking with Jo about this whole fiasco, Camille calls the boys stupid for fighting so much for romance, but then she immediately warns Jo that Logan is hers.
  • Plot Allergy: James keeps using Cuda Man Spray, a grooming body spray, on his skin to make him more attractive. Turns out that he is allergic to it, which explains his strange behavior throughout the episode. He doesn't realize this until Camille and Jo at the pool point this out to him, and he looks in a personal mirror and is shocked to see his skin is incredibly puffy and covered in hives.
  • Scary Black Man: This episode introduces the audience to Freight Train, a security guard who Gustavo hires to get the boys back to the studio. He is incredibly large and tends to carry them over his shoulder.
  • Sure, Let's Go with That: To avoid Logan flirting with Jo, Camille grabs him before he can make his move and starts kissing him over and over in front of her. When Logan asks her if she's doing this for a new acting exercise, she goes along with this for an excuse.
