Recap / Big Mouth S 05 E 2 The Shane Lizard Rises

Go To

Wanting to regain his mojo, the Shame Wizard tries to make people feel shameful of their body parts.

Tropes:

  • The Bus Came Back: The Shame Wizard comes back this episode to continue body-shaming the kids.
  • Circumcision Angst: An aversion in Jay's case—the other guys make fun of Jay for not being circumcised, which is something that he takes pride in.
  • Gag Penis: Courtesy of the Go-Gurt Burglar, of all people. This is enough for the other boys to riot in the locker room out of amazed jealousy.
  • Groin Attack: Andrew's attempt to shave his rampant pubic hair leads to him cutting his testicles, burning his groin, and dying his pubes green. By the time he's done, his genitals end up resembling the Joker.
  • He's Back!: This episode marks the return of the Shame Wizard as an antagonist after 2 seasons of having only minor appearances.
  • Shout-Out:
    • The Shame Wizard and Coach Steve holding up IHOP is taken from Pulp Fiction.
    • A combination of bleached pubes, excessive talcum powder and a nasty cut turns Andrew's genitals into "the Chode-ker". It forces Andrew to dance down the stairs.
  • Skewed Priorities: After Missy dislocates her shoulder on top of getting a needle between her eyes, Mona suggests that she masturbate with it, as it'll feel like someone else.
  • That Came Out Wrong: The Shame Wizard says the wrong thing when trying to get the kids to feel ashamed, supposedly due to being rusty.
Shame Wizard: Well I couldn't miss the opportunity to leer at children in their bathing suits.
    Jessi: Ewww! [Jessi turns away]
    Shame Wizard: Yummy yummy.
Connie: What in the fuck! [also turns away]
    Jessi: Gross.
Shame Wizard: N-n-no! I'm sorry. I'm sorry. I'm rusty! The shame, is what I find yummy. The children are bad! Bad! Not sexy, no. Let me start over.
  • Unwitting Instigator of Doom: Coach Steve unwittingly makes the episode's problems happen by mentioning the swim class, which gives Shame Wizard the idea of body-shaming the kids.
  • Villain Song: The Shame Wizard gets a new one here.
