Go To

Nega-Globby begins to take control of Globby's body to cause chaos around the city, turning Globby from an adored hero to a wanted criminal overnight.

Tropes in this episode:

  • Abandoned Warehouse: The group takes Globby to an old abandoned candy factory that once belonged to Fred's great-grandfather, intending to keep watch over him in a safe place while Honey works on a way to get rid of Nega-Globby. After escaping the police, Hiro figures they could make it into a new headquarters now that Chief Cruz is monitoring the diner constantly.
  • Arrested for Heroism: Even though Big Hero 6 defeated Nega-Globby, Chief Cruz did not witness this, so to him, they're just aiding and abetting a criminal, and thus are wanted criminals.
  • Bait-and-Switch:
    • The Cold Open starts with Globby mugging someone for their cell phone... which turns out to be a commercial for Krei's newest smart phone.
    • Felony Carl states he has to go "Meet somebody about a thing", then immediately explains that the somebody is his dad and the thing is his birthday.
  • Bittersweet Ending: Nega-Globby has been defeated, but since Big Hero 6 was caught helping Globby, who is now a criminal, they themselves have now become fugitives and must hide from the law.
  • The Bus Came Back: Nega-Globby returns in this episode after last being seen in its debut episode.
  • Coincidental Broadcast: Bluff Dunder whistles a haunting tune just as Nega-Globby appears.
  • Death Glare: Chief Cruz gives one to the heroes at the end of the episode.
  • Easily Condemned: Globby goes from being beloved by the citizens to becoming a wanted criminal due to Nega-Globby's actions. Likewise, Cruz sees Big Hero 6 helping Globby and immediately considers them criminals, despite them capturing the real culprit.
  • Evil Is Bigger: After Big Hero 6 enhance Nega-Globby's strength so that he breaks free from Globby, it goes a little too well and he becomes humongous
  • Evil Is Petty: Nega-Globby swings between deliberately trying to hurt people and petty annoyances depending on his audience. When Big Hero 6 are guarding him, he does things such as pelt Go-Go with slime and try to get Wasabi dirty.
  • Going to Give It More Energy: When all of Honey's attempts to remove Nega-Globby would likewise kill Globby, Hiro suggests they instead make Nega-Globby even stronger, allowing Nega-Globby to break free of Globby and thereby allow them contain Nega-Globby directly.
  • The Lopsided Arm of the Law: They bring out everything they can when they go after Big Hero 6 and Globby.
  • Not What It Looks Like: Globby tries to explain that his arm was possessed by Nega-Globby and wasn't attacking people willingly, but Chief Cruz isn't having any of it.
  • On One Condition: Felony Carl agrees to tell Big Hero 6 the location of Globby, on one condition: that they give Globby a big hug for him.
  • Police Are Useless: Sure, the city definitely needs no superheroes.
    • Chief Cruz wants to handcuff the Blob Monster. They also taser him, and while it causes him pain, it doesn't prevent him from escaping.
    • Only the heroes' scientific expertise allows to separate Nega-Globby from Globby and contain the former.
    • At the end of the episode, Chief Cruz tells Big Hero 6 they are under arrest, only for Hiro to summon Baymax's jet-pack and escape while Chief Cruz can only glare after them.
  • Shapeshifting: Globby can now take on the appearance of anyone he has seen, and even mix and match them. Such as when he made Fred's face with Felony Carl's body.
  • Ship Tease: Chief Cruz comes into the Lucky Cat to keep an eye out for Big Hero 6, but it's also heavily suggested he also comes because he has gotten a crush on Aunt Cass.
  • Shout-Out: During their final battle, Globby turns into a giant butterfly, whereas Nega-Globby turns into a serpent looking like one of the heads of King Ghidorah.
  • Skewed Priorities: Wasabi gives us this gem:
Wasabi: We can't go to prison! We have midterms!
  • Superhero Paradox: The reason for Chief Cruz's distrust of superheroes. He believes that their presence attracts supervillains, and are more a nuisance to law enforcement than an aid, despite the fact that Big Hero 6 exists because the police didn't take Hiro's warnings about Yokai seriously.
  • Tempting Fate: In the beginning of the episode, Felony Carl just has to tell Globby, "It seems at this point, that nothing could go wrong." Cue Nega-Globby's eye opening in the back of Globby's head.
  • True Companions: Felony Carl and Globby are shown to be true friends. No wonder Globby turned on Obake when he heard his plan would get Felony Carl killed.
  • Villainous Legacy: Even though Di Amara has been arrested, the events of the episode only happened due to her creating Nega-Globby in the first place.
  • We Could Have Avoided All This: If Chief Cruz wasn't so gun-ho in capturing Globby and let him explain, him and Big Hero 6 wouldn't have been labeled criminals.
