Tropes:

  • A Boy and His X: Todd the farm kid is accompanied by his pet piglet a lot.
  • Applied Phlebotinum: Corrodium is a glowing purple rock that mutates anything on Earth.
  • Foreshadowing: After Ben and Gwen hear that the Mummy appeared in a flash of purple lightning, Ben notes how there was purple lightning seen when they fought the alien werewolf, with Gwen even commenting how that can't be a coincidence. Future episodes will reveal just how right they are.
  • Freeze-Frame Bonus: Although it is likely an animation error, when the Omnitrix is rapidly cycling through icons while scanning the Mummy's DNA, Ghostfreak's icon is visible, but he is not supposed to be in the Omnitrix right now. Unless this is Foreshadowing the Mummy's connection to him.
  • Impaled with Extreme Prejudice: Diamondhead stabs the Mummy through the chest, but it is made of regenerating bandages, so it is completely unphased.
  • Internal Reveal: The audience saw the purple lighting from the beginning (although it was very quick and easy to miss) but Ben and Gwen don't learn about it from Todd until well after they start hunting the Mummy and it's treated as a Wham Line for them.
  • Light-Flicker Teleportation: After Diamondhead digs up the Corrodium, Gwen realizes they've done the Mummy's job for him. It suddenly appears at the end of the hall, getting closer with each flicker of the lights, with its purple glow flickering out a moment later each time.
  • Mummy: The villain of the episode is an alien Mummy (technically a Thep Khufan).
  • Mundane Utility: Ben uses several of his aliens to make farm work easier such as Four Arms to milk cows and Wildvine to slop the pigs.
  • Nostalgia Filter: Grandpa Max figured his grandchildren could stand to do farm work like he did when he was a kid. Of course, he later admits he'd forgotten how much he hated working on his uncle's farm.
  • Not So Above It All: As much as he wants to teach Gwen and Ben the value of hard work, Max doesn't like farm work any more than they do, and he's relieved when they say they've learned their lesson about the importance of fulfilling their chores.
  • Power Copying: The Omnitrix scans the Mummy's DNA. Ben tries to "fight Mummy with Mummy", but gets Upgrade instead. Ben will eventually get to use Benmummy (or Snare-Oh as of Ben 10: Omniverse) in "The Return".
  • Purple Is Powerful: Like all of Ghostfreak's minions, the Mummy has a purple glow, as does the Corrodium.
