A fusion of Malware and Vilgax? Looks like Ben is toast.
Ben finally manages to rid himself of Skurd - just when he needs the Slimebiote most.

Tropes in this episode

  • Aborted Arc: The ending hinted that Malware might come back to life. If the series continued after season 8, he would've been a potential member of the new Negative 10.
  • Big "NO!": Albedo does this after Azmuth disables the Ultimatrix, leaving him permanently stuck in the form of 11-year-old Ben.
  • Crazy-Prepared: Azmuth reveals that despite what he’s claimed in the past, he truly does have a contingency plan for just about everything, as he demonstrates to Albedo by not only using his teleporter to narrowly escape being vaporized, but uses a device that permanently deactivates the Ultimatrix, rendering the latter powerless.
Azmuth: Albedo, do you know why they started calling me the "First Thinker"? It wasn't because I achieved a perfect score on my GATs as a tadpole.
Albedo: I knew that was apocryphal!
Azmuth: Oh, I did. But I'm the First Thinker because I always plan for every contingency. After I designed the Omnitrix, the most powerful technology in five galaxies, my first thought was, "Gee, I should probably invent a failsafe, in case some interstellar headcase ever gets a hold of one of these things." So I did.
  • Fusion Dance: Vilgax wears armor made out of Malware's remains, allowing him to combine the Mechomorph's abilities with anything else in his personal arsenal.
  • Humiliation Conga: Things don't go well for Albedo's last appearance. His Ultimatrix is disabled, sentenced to clean-up for the next 30 Galvan solar cycles, and it's likely he'll be stuck in his human form in the future.
  • Mythology Gag: The episode takes its title from the video game Vilgax Attacks. Said game also featured Albedo teaming up with Vilgax and suffering a humiliating fate.
  • Oh, Crap!: The news that Malware's remains are missing woried everyone, including Ben.
  • Took a Level in Badass: Vilgax regains a lot of the physical prowess he hasn’t displayed since Alien Force, managing to overpower everything Ben throws at him using the Malware Armor.
  • Tuckerization: Galvan medic Duffy was named for late UAF showrunner Dwayne McDuffie.
  • The Worf Effect: Every alien who fights the Malware-powered Vilgax suffers from this trope just to show how powerful he is, but the most egregious example is Atomix, who didn't put up a good fight despite all of his best efforts. This gives you the impression that the writers wanted to show that Ben is useless without Skurd.
  • Written-In Absence: Rook doesn't appear because he is visiting his sister at Plumbers Academy.
  • You Monster!: Luhley calls Albedo this after he (unsuccessfully) vaporized Azmuth.
