Bruce is holding a party at the Manor, and Duke forget to pick up all of his Signal gear. He has to quickly pick it all up before anyone sees it and figures out his (and, by extension, Batman's) identity...because he'd definitely get grounded for that!
Tropes:
- All for Nothing: Not only had Alfred already picked up any gear Duke overlooked, but Duke laments to himself that he's definitely getting one of Bruce's lectures.
- Container Cling: When a couple of workers come in to set up the dining room, Duke grabs his gloves and boots and somehow clings to the underside of a table until they're gone.
- Description Cut: When Duke comes to ask what's going on, Tim mentions the gala that night and asks if Alfred didn't mention it. Duke is about to say he didn't when he remembers a whole montage of points when Alfred briefly interrupted his activities to remind him about the gala and clean-up.
- The Dreaded: If you think fighting Batman is bad, it's apparently better than getting lectured by him.
- Forgot About His Powers: In his panic to clean up his gear, Duke apparently forgets that one of his abilities is to turn invisible. A later comic reveals why he so seldom uses his powers, but still...
- Missed Him by That Much: A lot of Duke's panicked running through the Manor involves ducking/dodging/flipping over the workers so they won't see him. The few who do just pass it off as rich people craziness.
- No Peripheral Vision: The workers bringing flowers for the gala don't seem to notice Duke vaulting over their heads as they walk into the room and another group walks straight past him down the hall as he sticks an arm out from behind the couch to grab another piece of gear.
- Once Done, Never Forgotten: Duke's frantic inner monologue notes that if Batman's secret gets revealed because he neglected to pick up his costume and arsenal, he'll never live it down.
- Secret Identity: The reason why Duke is panicking so much. If someone sees the Signal's gear, they'll realize that one of Batman's sidekicks lives there, thus leading them to the conclusion that Bruce Wayne is Batman.
- This Is Gonna Suck: When Alfred reveals that he already swept the manor for any gear Duke left out, Duke slumps against the door in defeat because he knows he's in trouble for this one.Duke: I am so getting a lecture later.
- Unusually Uninteresting Sight: Two workers see Duke grapple up the staircase, then remark to themselves that rich people are crazy and get back to work.
