After getting teased about his name, Verne decides to use time travel to fix his problem.
This episode includes examples of the following tropes:
- Embarrassing First Name: After being bullied about his name, Verne goes back in time to convince the real Jules Verne to change his name; failing at that, he travelled back to his own birth to convince his parents to name him something else. Neither of these plans works out.
- Hair-Trigger Avalanche: Doc accidentally sets off an avalanche by yelling in surprise when Verne tracks him down to tell him Clara is going into labor. He immediately regrets shouting.
- I'm Mr. [Future Pop Culture Reference]: A number of the alternate names Verne suggests to his namesake author or his parents-to-be reference characters he thinks are cool.
- Kids Are Cruel: Verne decides he needs to change his name after a group of schoolmates mock him with nicknames like "La-Verne" and "Verne the Worm."
- Misplaced Retribution: Verne irritates Jules Verne, who turns and glove slaps Marty. When the teen protests he didn't do anything, Jules Verne answers that a Frenchman doesn't strike children.
- Named After Somebody Famous: Subverted; while he's still named Verne in the present day, Verne's parents named him after the stranger who helped them when their second son was born: himself.
- Shout-Out:
- The title refers to a famous line from Romeo and Juliet.
- The bear Marty encounters is called "Elly May".
