Recap / Back To The Future The Animated Series S 1 E 7

Go To

Doc and Marty go after an extinct species of frog to combat athlete's foot and Einstein finds himself in the middle of a criminals' getaway attempt when they take the DeLorean as an escape vehicle.

this episode includes examples of the following tropes:

  • Floating Clocks: For some reason, this replaces the instant temporal displacement seen in the trilogy. A pair of crooks steal the DeLorean as a getaway car after a robbery, and accidentally travel to Sydney, Australia in 1790. When temporal displacement occurs, this is what they see for a few seconds through the windshield.
  • Formula-Breaking Episode: This episode is the only two-story episode in the series, and "Einstein's Adventure" further marks the only time Einstein starred by himself.
  • Hidden in Plain Sight: "Einstein's Adventure" starts with Doc leaving the napping dog in the DeLorean while he shops. Two crooks steal the car as a getaway vehicle and accidentally activate the time circuits.
  • Mundane Utility: The first segment has Doc using time travel to go after an extinct species of frog, because the secretions from its skin cause athlete's foot to heal faster.
  • Now You Tell Me: As they start looking for a bufo marinus, Doc cautions Marty to take care with the local wildlife. When his assistant doesn't answer, he turns around to see an anaconda wrapped around Marty, trying to choke him. The teen sarcastically thanks him for the advice.
  • Prefer Jail to the Protagonist: After getting back from their time travel excursion, the bank robbers are so shaken that they return the stolen money and willingly go to a modern jail.
  • Pun: Marty calls the local Tannen a "conquistadork."
  • Snakes Are Sinister: While Marty and Doc are in the jungle looking for an extinct species of frog, Marty gets grabbed by an anaconda. Unrealistically, it responds to Tickle Torture and lets him go.
