Recap / Avengers Assemble S 5 E 13 The Last Avenger

Go To

Accused of killing Captain America, T'Challa attempts to return to Wakanda with his prize before it goes off, but the Avengers won't make it easy for him.

Tropes:

  • Beneath the Mask: T'Challa insists he's doing what had to be done, but once he's back at his palace (and fittingly has taken his mask off), he's quite obviously not happy with how things have gone.
  • The Berserker: Thor's initially willing to give T'Challa a chance, but once he's upset nothing reaches him, and he gives T'Challa and Shuri their biggest obstacle.
  • Conflict Ball: Black Widow accused T'Challa of killing Cap, but even after he tries making his case, Hawkeye refuses to listen, still blaming T'Challa for what happened with Whitney Frost. Thor goes berserk, and Captain Marvel absolutely refuses to listen at all, preferring to punch first ask questions never.
  • Crazy-Prepared: T'Challa's got backups, and backups of the backups. Such as the hidden jet in Central Park, and another hidden jet in a disused warehouse in case the first jet's sunk, and yet another inside Avengers Tower, and secret override codes even Tony didn't know about just so he can get to it. Whoof.
  • Easily Condemned: Continuing where the previous episode left off, Black Widow accuses Black Panther of murdering Captain America. As a result, the other Avengers take Black Widow's word and try to take on Black Panther, even refusing to listen to his explanations.
  • Only Sane Man: Kamala, who absolutely doesn't want to attack T'Challa or Shuri and would rather talk things over, and then Tony in a distant second, and even Tony eventually gives up trying to reason with T'Challa.
  • Poor Communication Kills: In most of the Avengers's defence, T'Challa doesn't exactly make the best case for himself — "I need to get this to Wakanda or it will explode" might've been enough, assuming he got past Black Widow's accusations.
  • Running Gag: T'Challa revealing the amount of backups he's got, and Shuri's increasing incredulity.
