Jiro: I, Jiro Momotani, was born and raised to be a true superhero!
But the Donbrothers don't seem to understand my true value.
Especially that guy, Taro Momoi!

Shinichi and the others refuse to accept Jiro into the Donbrothers due to his Superpowered Evil Side, however Taro refuses to take their opinion seriously. On the other hand, Jiro tells Taro that he is unsatisfied with being considered as just a "companion". Taro then makes a bet with Jiro: if Jiro can land even a single strike on him he will consider the latter his equal and hear him out, and welcomes Shinichi and the others to try as well. Meanwhile, Don Murasame, awakened by the voice of the mysterious entity known as "Mother", appears before the Donbrothers...!?

Tropes

  • Breather Episode: For the most part, the episode is mainly slapstick comedy save for Murasame's appearance.
  • Brick Joke: The episode ends with Taro forcefully helping an old lady carry her load, only for the old lady to get a strike on him with her walking stick out of anger.
  • Curb-Stomp Battle: Don Murasume absolutely wipes the floor with the team, with only the combined efforts of Taro and Jiro being able to slow him down.
  • Double-Meaning Title: The title is based off the phrase "one good strike"note , referencing the base plot of Taro challenging his companions to get a hit on him, while punning off "jaws", referencing the debut of Don Murasame and his Threatening Shark motif. The English title is a play on "jaws" and "awesome".
  • Did You Just Flip Off Cthulhu?: Haruka accidentally gives Sonoi a Dope Slap with a squeaky hammer while trying to get in a shot at Taro. Naturally, he is indignant and she is horrified.
  • Filler: For the most part, the episode focuses on the silly antics of the Donbrothers and Sonoi than anything plot-related, aside from the debut of Don Murasume.
  • Go-Karting with Bowser: Sonoi accompanies Taro on his delivery route and they have a duel along the way, which is based around them helping people with mundane stuff.
  • Imagine Spot:
    • Tsuyoshi has one which details his plan to steal a beansprout from Taro's ramen through an opening, thereby technically gaining a one-up "strike" on him. Unfortunately for him, Taro manages to stop him when he attempts the plan for real.
    • Haruka also has one, where she presents him a box of "homemade cookies" that in actuality was a prank box that would punch him in the face from opening it. However, Taro's Serious Business attitude from accepting his "first earnest gift from a woman" results in her trying to take it back out of guilt, and getting punched by the box herself.
  • Internal Reveal: Jin name-drops Jiro as being Taro's intended "replacement" in front of the others.
  • Jerkass Realization: As the team try to hit Taro, they all come to the realization that using Gii-chan (his beloved childhood pet) as a distraction was a terrible, underhanded move on their part, since Taro clearly loved him very much.
  • Mobile Shrubbery: One of Jiro's attempts involves hiding in a box, Solid Snake-style.
  • Mundane Utility: Sonoi employs Noto's speed and strength to win over Taro in their duel by catching a glass of water before it can shatter or retrieving a hat caught on a tree.
  • Not So Above It All:
    • Kaito participates in some of the Donbrothers' odder choices, such as barking when Haruka brings up the dog plushie that represents Tsubasa, and looking for a UFO when Jiro tries to distract Taro.
    • Sonoi seems to really enjoy his "duel" with Taro, as benign as it is.
  • Not So Stoic: When the team mentions they're trying to look for Gii-chan, Taro instantly drops what he's doing and tries to look for him in the bushes, having a noticeably worried look on his face.
  • Oh, Crap!: Sonoi has a look of fear upon Don Murasame revealing himself. After the fighting, he puts their duel "on hold" and promptly books it.
  • Running Gag: Whenever someone fails to strike Taro, they perform their punishment exercises on-the-spot in clearly-inappropriate locations. Cue henpecked staff asking them to leave.
  • Selective Obliviousness: Despite being the target of an Assassination Attempt by Jiro's Split Personality two episodes ago, Taro continues to disregard the team's growing anxiety toward his presence, going as far as to say "companions shouldn't speak out."
  • Surprisingly Realistic Outcome: Despite the Donbrothers apologizing to Taro for using Gii-chan the beetle's story to trick him, Haruka throws in some of her own Brutal Honesty with the fact that Gii-chan would have been dead by now as it's been years since Taro lost the pet as a child.note
  • Villain Takes an Interest: Sononi approaches Tsubasa and acknowledges him as the winner of the previous episode's wager, offering to help him reunite with Natsumi. He turns her down, saying he has to reunite with her himself.
