Recap / Atop The Fourth Wall All That He Sees He Conquers

Go To

Our story begins in an another universe, where a woman named Lita Liz is in the middle of reviewing the Star Wars: Roleplaying Game. Just then, she is slain off camera by another woman who says "All that he sees, he conquers".

Back in our universe, one month since the incident with the Magic Gun, Linkara is seen working on a morpher before he reviews The X-Men #1. But it would be yet another month before Linkara encounters trouble again. In space aboard the Angry Joe Army station, Angry Joe himself is in the middle of playing Civilization when the station shakes. One of his men finds the source of the disturbance, and Joe is horrified by what he sees. He contacts Linkara after his review of Justice League: Cry for Justice #1 and #2, and asks about his time in captivity aboard a spaceship. Said spaceship, an enormous green chromed vessel with a gigantic V engraved in it, is now orbiting Earth. Lord Vyce has arrived at last, and a "V-Minus" countdown starts, with the number 42.

The following week after reviewing Cry for Justice #3 and #4, Linkara discusses with Pollo some of the data they discovered about Vyce's ship: It is surrounded by a temporal shield, which keeps it out of sync with "our" universe's timescale. The time differentials between the ship and anything outside it means that the ship can't be attacked by conventional means, and Linkara starts planning.

Before Linkara can deal with Vyce, he has to face off against an old foe. After reviewing Power Rangers Zeo #1, Mechakara arrives in the apartment and fries Linkara's Power Morpher before he can use it. Linkara is immediately put on the defensive, with Mechakara gloating about his Vyce-upgraded body. He shrugs off damage from the Magic Gun & Dragon Dagger, and is immune to Pollo's hacking. Liz tries to step in, but is held off by another foe: Judas Liz, the same woman who had slain Lita Liz earlier.

Alone, Linkara is continuously beaten up by Mechakara, but gets his second wind by summoning his Zeo Golden Power Staff, blasting Mechakara away. Ever since their last encounter, Linkara has been continuously upgrading and adding new weapons to his "Arsenal of Freedom". To further exemplify this, Linkara summons the Zeonizer he worked on in his Athena #1 interview, and morphs, donning a white outfit in vein of Power Rangers Zeo. He easily knocks out Mechakara and drives away Judas Liz, but Mechakara grabbed the trashed Power Morpher and used the Power Coin to grow to giant size. Undaunted, Linkara launched the robot Neutro, which he "borrowed" from Doctor Insano. He reasoned that he would need additional power in the case of someone stealing or using the Magic Coin. And so in the style of Power Rangers, Linkara seemingly destroys Mechakara. His robotic right hand, knocked off in the fight, is put on Linkara's shelf as a trophy. But unbeknownst to our hero, one of the fingers gave a small twitch.

Vyce is not amused, strangling Doctor Linksano after he provided nothing but "A wrecked machine, and thus universe's Champion stronger than ever". After he tosses Linksano away, he resolves to deal with Linkara himself, and defeat "The Entity" here. His attack comes after Linkara finishes reviewing Cry for Justice #5-7, which has left him in a bad mood. When Linkara is confused by being referred to as a "Champion", Vyce explained that throughout his travels in different universes, each one had at least one champion that fought against perceived threats. He further says that he defeated 16 champions before him, and that their universes fell when they were defeated.

Linkara and Vyce fight, but despite Linkara extensive arsenal, he is easily overpowered. To make matters worse, the Zeonizer is still recharging from the previous fight, Liz is out of town, and Pollo is easily swatted away by Vyce. He is further confused when Vyce says that he does not conquer universes for the sake of power, but for protection from "The Entity". In the universe where Vyce originated from, there was something wrong: a glitch, an entity. When people did heed his warnings, he forced the issue and conquered to weaken and diminish The Entity. Vyce had trapped the Entity in our universe, and he was not going to let somebody like Linkara stand in his way.

To further show his power, Vyce outright kills Linkara's Pyramid Head and proceeded to beat Linkara to near-death. Before Vyce could land the killing blow though, Linkara stabbed Vyce with his own weapon, forcing the horrified Vyce to teleport and flee. All Linkara could do in the aftermath of the fight is tremble in terror, with the V-minus countdown continuing.

Between the fight, and his reviews of Cry for Justice, Linkara continued to remain in a slump the following week. He wasn't making any headway in his repairs of the Power Morpher that Mechakara damaged earlier. Liz tried to comfort Linkara, saying that they've still got "their secret", but Linkara feels that it hasn't done them any good so far anyway. When Liz suggests teaming up with Vyce to fight The Entity, Linkara further says that wouldn't do any good either; Vyce is so powerful and arrogant that he believes he's the only one that could kill The Entity.

Finally out of ideas, Liz left him a comic about the Care Bears, hoping it would cheer him up. At first, after the review, he was still in a slump, but then suddenly asked one pressing question: WHY didn't Vyce kill him? Flashing back to the the fight where Vyce's armor was damaged, Linkara finally realized what he could do, and immediately started planning. The V-minus countdown continued.

Linkara and company prepped themselves for the oncoming battle. While the Ninja Style Dancer is out and Lieutenant Monro was busy with matters in his own universe, Harvey retuned the phasers, 90's Kid upgraded the BFG, and Liz prepared to set out on a mission to relay Linkara's instructions to their secret. Liz is dismayed when all Linkara does in the meantime is review Superman: Distant Fires, and the V-minus countdown continued.

Before his review of Youngblood #3 Linkara contacts Angry Joe on board his space station as he uses the Sonic Screwdriver on Mechakara's disembodied hand. Linkara is requesting assistance from the Angry Joe army and Joe is hesitant to give it citing the untrustworthiness of Linkara's contact. Linkara tells Joe that his contact is just as afraid of Vyce as the rest of them and Joe reluctantly agrees but not before warning Linkara that he will regret it if things go south for his men.

After the review is over Linkara asks Pollo for confermation on an energy trace and Linkara tells Liz that Mechakara had to have some way of contacting Vyce through the time shield, if he could summon Judas Liz so easily, and now, through his hand, so do they. On-board Vyce's ship a Shade is shown repairing Vyce's armour and the megalomaniac rants to Judas Liz that he will tear Linkara's head from his body and trench his blood over The Entity before killing it. Judas Liz tells Vyce that his emotions are clouding his judgement but he tells her to be quiet.

Suddenly a signal from Mechakara hails Vyce's ship and Vyce tells one of his Shades to turn it on. Linkara's voice comes through the signal and Linkara mocks Vyce for his poor performance against him, saying that he is unfit to defeat The Entity he's so afraid of, and to allow him to deal with it. However Linkara poses a challenge to Vyce, if he wants to prove him wrong, he knows where he can find Linkara. Vyce is enraged by this mocking and Judas Liz smirks and leaves.

After Linkara sends out his challenge to Vyce he and Liz sit around bored waiting for the Final Battle to begin. While Linkara notes how strange their lives are Liz decides to get ready herself after Linkara gives her the fixed Power Morpher. In order to pass the time Linkara reviews Doctor Who Classics #7.

Once the review is over Pollo contacts Linkara and informs him that the energy trace of Vyce's teleporter will be there shortly. Linkara and Liz convene in the living room and prepare to combat Vyce when he appears. Vyce suddenly appears and, using the Sonic Screwdriver to amplify the power of the BFG, Linkara and Liz fire a massive blast on the tyrant.

The assault begins with Liz charging in with her swords, Linkara with Saber (the White Power Rangers weapon) and both of them pulling Phasers. Vyce merely shrugs off the attacks however and mocks Liz as an "unimportant whelp" but Linkara smacks Vyce over the head and tells him that Liz stands alongside him and is just as important as any champion. Vyce decides then to kill her as well.

Liz asks Linkara if it's time now but he tells her that they have to wait until the last possible second. Vyce then grabs Linkara and pins him to a wall in order to strangle him but Linkara pulls two sonic screwdrivers and uses their vibrations against to let him go. However before he can use them again Vyce grabs Linkara and forces him to drop them.

Things look bad but help arrives in the form of Lieutenant Monro who blasts Vyce In the Back and tells him that this is payback for Beastman the Champion who defeated the Vorsah. After repelling Monro's blasts Vyce knocks him away to finish off Linkara and Liz. While his back is turned however Harvey wakes up Monro and tells him that there are things they need to do.

Vyce compliments his opponents valour and tries to contact his ship in order to transport himself, Linkara and Liz back to vessel. However something is wrong and Vyce can't get in contact with his Shades. The first step in Linkara's master plan is in motion and he and Liz get away from Vyce as he realises, to his shock, that his energy is dropping.

Linkara then gets in contact with Angry Joe and Joe reveals that, in Vyce's absence, his army has succeeded in taking control over the bridge, engineering, and upper levels of the vessel. Vyce is left dumbfounded that a force was able to get through his ships energy shields and asks how it was possible. The answer comes in the form of Dr. Linksano who Linkara reveals has been his mole inside Vyce's operation for a month after he was kidnapped. While Vyce was on earth Linksano was busy lowering the temporal shielding which allowed the Angry Joe Army to invade and take down the unprepared Shade armada.

Linkara also reveals that he has figured out Vyce's weakness, because of how radically different Linkara's universe is from Vyce's one he needs a constant stream of power from his ship to remain strong and, if his suit is damaged, Linkara's universe will kill him. Therefore he had to flee after Linkara was able to damage Vyce's suit enough. By leaving his ship undefended Vyce has signed his own defeat.

Linkara and Liz, using the Zeonizer and Power Morpher respectively, transform into their battle modes and fight Vyce. Linkara even combines his white power mode with the Dragon Dagger and Shield to increase his power and rebel his attacks. After Liz stabs Vyce In the Back and makes him drop his weapon all of Linkara's allies gather together with their most powerful weapons and perform on all out assault on Vyce finally defeating the dictator once and for all.

Despite managing to knock him out Pollo reveals that Vyce is still alive and Harvey asks Linkara would they should do with him if even their all out assault couldn't defeat him. Linkara decides to banish Vyce to a desolate, snowy, alien world with no civilisation or life for Vyce to enslave. While he won't die right away the winter weather will ensure that Vyce's power reserves will run out in four hundred years by which point he will be harmless and Pollo can get to work disabling Vyce's Shades and other creatures across the multiverse.

Vyce tells Linkara that he has doomed the multiverse to the Entity and that, at some point, he will come back seeking his help. However Linkara tells Vyce that, even if the Enitity does exist, he would never work with someone who would enslave countless universes. With that Linkara teleports himself to Vyce's ship and leaves the former conqueror to his fate.

Now that the day is saved Linkara thanks Joe, who has his own problem brewing in the form of Admiral Ackbar, and Linkara and Liz examine the ship that is now theirs. While there is still a lot of work to do Linkara decides to celebrate his new price by looking for a minibar.

However Linkara may have celebrated a bit to soon as revealed at the episodes end when, in the apartment, a shrill voice calls out "hhhuuummmmmaaannn" and begins laughing as the screen starts crackling with static.

The Entity has begun to make its move.
