Recap / Asura's Wrath E15 "A New Cause"

Go To

Asura reappears, still consumed by rage, and kills Sergei — but not before he reveals himself as Durga's murderer, something Yasha knew all along, yet he still chose to side with Deus. Realizing Asura has become uncontrollable with rage, Yasha manages to subdue him back to his normal state as the two of them travel to Deus's ship.

Tropes:

  • Ace Custom: After Yasha beats Asura, he summons his own custom hoverbike Corvette Lone Wolf to speak with Deus.
  • Clipped-Wing Angel: Wrath Asura is what is left of Berserker Asura after taking a hit from The Brahmastra. He doesn't fire blasts of energy, the four giant arms on his back are gone and now his body is slowly eroding from the sheer force of his own power. Doesn't make him any less dangerous though.
  • Cruel and Unusual Death: Sergei's. After spending a full minute being held up from behind his head, a massive gash in his stomach as he spits out ichor with every word, Wrath Asura finishes him off by crushing his head under heel.
  • Get A Hold Of Yourself Man: The entire fight is Yasha trying to snap Asura out of his mindless state. When words fail, he knocks him unconscious.
  • Heel–Face Turn: When Yasha realizes that he is capable of channeling mantra without needing to harvest souls, he leaves Asura to rest while he heads to Deus to talk him out of The Great Rebirth.
  • In Love with Your Carnage: After getting over the shock of his sudden appearance in the last episode, Sergei can only marvel at the "beauty of [his] wrath," laughing deliriously as he bleeds out in Asura's claws.
  • Kick the Dog: Sergei's last words have him admitting unapologetically that he was the one that killed Durga, hoping to get a reaction from both Wrath Asura and Yasha. Wrath Asura is too lost in his own mindless fury to listen and Yasha already knew this, so their reactions only disappoint him.
  • Laughing Mad: Sergei gives a burst of cackling when he admits to having killed Durga.
  • Phlebotinum Overdose: Near the end of the battle, Yasha realizes that Asura is processing more mantra than his body can handle, every attack doing himself more harm than his opponent.
  • What Is This Feeling?: When Yasha loses his Cool Mask (the very thing he has been using to repress his emotions) and manages to channel enough Melancholy Mantra on his own to fend off Asura, he questions where it comes from.
