Recap / Asura's Wrath E14 "Gods and Men"

Go To

Following his actions, Deus orders Yasha, under the supervision of Sergei, to strike at the Gohma attacking a human city. Despite Yasha's best efforts to purify the Gohma and halt their advance, Sergei bombards both them and the city for more souls. As Yasha has commanded from space most of the time, he only now realizes the needless mass slaughter of humans for Mantra. Asura then reappears, still consumed by rage, and kills Sergei – but not before he reveals himself as Durga's murderer, something Yasha knew all along, yet he still chose to side with Deus.

Tropes:

  • Kick the Dog: Sergei spends the whole episode pushing Yasha's buttons trying to get a reaction.
Sergei: That melancholy face of your truly suits you the most... [Evil Laugh]
  • Laser-Guided Karma:
    • Rather than listen to both sides of the story, Deus dismisses Olga before she could explain herself for depleting 3/4 of their mantra trying to kill Asura, flinging her against the wall when she tries anyway.
    • Sergei orders the village destroyed and the souls harvested before mocking Yasha for being sentimental about it. Cue Asura, who destroys their ship and guts him like a fish.
  • Oh, Crap!: Sergei has this reaction when Asura suddenly appears and strikes him down.
  • Static Electricity: When Deus flings Olga against the wall, she sticks to it as though forced their telekinetically by his lightning-mantra.

Sergei

One of the Seven Deities and an admirer of the arts. He is Deus' (slightly psychotic) right hand man.

Sergei is constantly looking for all things beautiful. Despite his artistic airs, he never hesitates in making decisions, which makes him look cruel at times. He is the one who kills Durga, Asura's wife, during the coup d'etat.
