Go To

Bud loses his imaginary friend, Rapty, a dinosaur, and becomes worried what he'll do without him.

Tropes in "The Lost Dinosaur" include:

  • A Day in the Limelight: Bud is the focus point of the episode.
  • Assurance Backfire: Bud is nervous about his dentist visit, and asks Platy to encourage him. Platy says, "It won't be so bad when they remove all your teeth!" Bud decides not to bring Platy with him.
  • Bad Future: Bud imagines himself as an adult, unable to get a job because he hasn't heard from his only reference (Rapty) in 20 years.
  • Replacement Goldfish: While Rapty is lost, Bud takes up Ladonna's stuffed animal, Platy, as a replacement. Unlike Rapty, however, Platy isn't very good at being reassuring.

D.W. loves the Princess Platoon series until she understands that it doesn't represent everyone. With the help of Arthur's friend, Lydia, D.W. discovers the true qualities of a princess.

Tropes for "The Princess Problem" include:

  • Alliterative Title: The Princess Problem.
  • Alphabetical Theme Naming: All the princess in the "Princess Platoon" (except Princess Ana) have a name starting with "P".
  • Girl in the Tower: D.W. makes Arthur and Lydia watch a movie where Princess Perky is trapped in a tower by two trolls, who are trying to take her tiara.
  • Merchandise-Driven: The "Princess Platoon" series is heavily merchandised with numerous Princess Platoon-branded products, like a collector's lunchbox, bubble bath, and talking dolls.
  • Only One Finds It Fun: D.W. watches a Princess Platoon movie. By the end, while she's enjoying it and singing along, Arthur and Lydia have already fallen asleep.
  • Sailor Earth: D.W. and Lydia create two new princesses to become part of the platoon - Princess Ana (based on the real-life Spanish princess Ana de Mendoza), and Princess Prophecia the princess of the future.
  • Shout-Out: Lydia's Princess Prophecia costume has a hairdo similar to that of Princess Leia.
  • Token Non-Human: Well, "token non-anthropomorphic animal", but Princess Prancia the centaur is the only centaur in the "Princess Platoon".
