Recap / Aqua Teen Hunger Force S 3 E 1 Video Ouija

Go To

Shake decides to torment Meatwad through his latest game, Video Ouija. When that plan fails, he is in desperate need of Frylock's help.

  • All for Nothing: Shake commits suicide to haunt Meatwad through Video Ouija... only for Meatwad to have already lost interest the morning after.
  • And There Was Much Rejoicing: Downplayed, but Frylock and Carl (the former after learning why Shake killed himself) are more indifferent to Shake's death than anything else. Meatwad, upon learning about it, gives a small smile and says "that's good".
  • Bait-and-Switch: Despite the episode's name, the titular game loses relevance as soon as BillyWitchDoctor.Com is introduced.
  • Didn't Think This Through: Perhaps one of the biggest examples of Shake's stupidity doing more harm to him than anyone else. He kills himself to haunt Meatwad through Video Ouija despite no evidence suggest the game can do anything outside of allowing people to contact the dead. Even ignoring that Meatwad loses interest in the game, even if he got to torment him, he'd quickly realize the obvious fact that he'd have nothing left after that since, well, he's dead.
  • Downer Ending: The Aqua Teens attempt to resurrect Shake fails and they accidentally summon Ultra-Mega-Chicken — who promptly kills Carl.
  • No Kill like Overkill: Shake swallows sleeping pills that would presumably kill him if he overdosed, puts a hose connected to the exhaust pipe of Carl's car in his mouth to breathe the fumes, puts piranhas into the pool and falls in with a toaster plugged in.
  • No Sympathy: Unsurprisingly, nobody cares that Shake committed suicide. Soon as he learns the reason, Frylock loses his shock and treats the situation as another one of Shake's idiot schemes, which also makes him uncaring of the mess Shake made of Carl's pool. Carl is more upset with what happened to his pool and is only sorry he can't press charges for a suicide. Meatwad is more upset at Frylock's plan to bring Shake back to life, since he didn't have to deal with his roommate anymore. That being said, they do still attempt to bring him back to life regardless, though it has less to do with missing him as it is Shake demanding Frylock to find a way, and Carl and Meatwad clearly don't want him back.
  • Spiteful Suicide: Shake kills himself just so he can haunt Meatwad through the Video Ouija game. It backfires when Meatwad loses interest and moves onto a new game the next day.
