Sprig wants quality time with his grandpa and NO ONE'S gonna get in his way!

Sprig wants to spend time with Hop Pop on their family fishing trip, but Hop Pop's friend Sylvia gets in the way.

This episode has examples of:

  • Ash Face: Sprig after Sylvia eats a pain pepper and breathes fire on him.
  • Bilingual Conversation: In a flashback, Anne speaks to her mother in English, and she replies in (subtitled) Thai.
  • Blazing Inferno Hellfire Sauce: Sprig slips one of Hop Pop's pain peppers into Sylvia's sandwich. Turns out she enjoys spicy food.
  • Chekhov's Gun: Sprig using Anne's parasail to search for Sylvia.
  • Continuity Nod: The pain peppers from "Best Fronds" show up again. This time, Sprig uses them in an attempt to get rid of Sylvia, placing them in her sandwich.
  • Cuteness Overload: Sprig's recollection of the years spent between him and Hop Pop on the family fishing trip shows us what he looked like as a pollywog, and it's fair to say that he personifies this trope.
  • Fishing Episode: The Plantars go on their annual fishing trip and Hop Pop brings Sylvia.
  • Furry Reminder: A human example. The sight of the giant crabs makes Anne scared and hungry at the same time. She even suggests to the Plantars to come back and kill it so she can eat it.
  • Giant Enemy Crab: The Plantars encounter one during their fishing trip.
  • Green-Eyed Monster: Sprig decides that the only way to get his bonding time with Hop Pop is to get rid of Sylvia, cue a montage of him trying to murder her.
  • Instant Expert: Sprig has no problems using the paraglider that Anne spent the entire episode trying to master without success.
  • Jerkass Ball: While Sprig understandably wants to spend time with Hop Pop, it does not justify him sabotaging the fishing trip to make Sylvia leave. It culminates with Sprig tricking Sylvia into jumping off the boat to get flowers for Hop Pop, and he even ropes the ladder back on the boat to keep her from coming back onboard. But he quickly regrets this after realizing what a nice lady Sylvia is, and saves her from eaten by a giant crab.
  • Murder the Hypotenuse: The episode culminates with Sprig tricking Sylvia into jumping off their boat and swimming out to pick some flowers off an island that turns out to be the shell of a giant killer crab.
Sylvia: (about to dive) Not to brag, but I'm quite the swimmer. I'll be back in about fifteen minutes, tops!
Sprig: (under his breath) Yeah, we'll see about that.
  • Nightmare Face: Sprig looks very villainous when he hits on the idea to have Sylvia pick the flowers, complete with Finger-Tenting.
  • Shaking Her Hair Loose: At one point, Sprig tries putting a centipede in Sylvia's hair. She loosens her bun... and the sight enraptures Hop Pop and Sprig.
  • "Shaggy Dog" Story: From Sylvia's perspective. She swims out to an island after Sprig tells her the flowers on it are Hop Pop's favorite and nearly dies when said island turns out to be a giant crab. She still manages to get some of the flowers... except Hop Pop's favorite flowers are daffodils.
  • Tempting Fate: Sprig says that his quality time with Hop Pop in their fishing trips will never change... and in walks Sylvia.
  • That's No Moon: The island with the blue flowers that Sprig sends Sylvia to is actually the shell of a giant crab.
  • Trademark Favorite Food: It's implied Anne has a thing for crab meat as her reaction to the giant crab is a mix between fear and hunger and suggests going back to collect its meat.
