Here's hoping those are just some really good costumes.

Jake throws the biggest, wildest Halloween party, taking advantage of the holiday to bring together humans and magical creatures. However, when the party is interrupted by the Dragon Council, who remove Jake's dragon powers as a punishment, will Jake be able to find a way to save the day when the Councilors later find themselves at the mercy of the Huntsclan?

Tropes

  • Added Alliterative Appeal: This line from Jake:
Jake: Check it! Mermaids are mixing with the math nerds. Ogres are ogling cheerleaders. The goths are groovin’ with the goblins.
  • Bait-and-Switch: In the episode’s Cold Open, Jake rolls out the front door while still in his dragon form and a woman screams in fear as a cop car pulls up with its lights and sirens on. However, after the title sequence, it’s revealed that the woman is screaming in excitement at how great his dragon “costume” is.
  • Bedsheet Ghost: Two boys from Jake's school do this, and are quickly embarrassed by how much better everyone else's "costumes" are compared to theirs.
Ghost Kid #1: "We'll just go as ghosts", you said. "Nobody'll wear a good costume", you said!
  • Bound and Gagged: Happens to Andam, Kulde, and Chang after they're captured by the Huntsclan.
  • The Cameo: Ingrid and Cornelius from Fillmore! can be briefly seen taking part in the party's festivities.
  • Continuity Nod: Jake's satisfactory performance during his tests in "Dragon Summit" is brought up by the Councilors.
  • Description Cut: Councilor Andam tells Councilor Chang that he’s sure Jake is doing some serious training for his dragon inspection. Cut to Jake messing around as usual.
  • Disproportionate Retribution: For the sheer audacity of being a 13-year-old boy who wants to have some fun on Halloween by throwing a party instead of spending all night training, the Dragon Council removes his dragon chi and suspends both him and Lao-Shi from the Dragon Order.
    • It may have been intentional on Chang's part as another scheme to drive Jake to the Dark Dragon's side.
  • Distracted by the Sexy: Jake asks Fu if they need to tell Lao Shi about all the trouble they caused and Fu considers it before getting distracted by a poodle walking by.
Fu: Kid, I don’t think we need to tell the old man anything ever again!
  • For Halloween, I Am Going as Myself:
    • Jake’s able to be out in public in his dragon form thanks to it being Halloween and everyone thinking it’s just a really good costume.
    • When Lao Shi and Hayley go trick-or-treating, all the houses they stop at mistake Lao Shi for a child wearing an old man costume and load him up with candy.
  • Glass-Shattering Sound: The sound system Trixie and Spud hooked up for Jake’s party is so loud that it cracks the screens of several electronics in the shop, along with a tank full of water for the mermaids.
  • Halloween Episode: Jake is excited to finally be able to throw a party in which magical creatures can come as themselves thanks to it being Halloween.
  • I Got a Rock: When Lao Shi and Hayley go trick-or-treating, all the houses they stop at mistake Lao Shi for a child wearing an old man costume and load him up with candy while at the same time giving Hayley nothing but apples. She eventually just dresses like Lao Shi in order to start getting an equal share.
  • Immediate Self-Contradiction: Spud claims he wasn’t scared at all when Jake was practicing his ring of fire trick on him, right before he faints into Trixie’s arms.
  • Inflating Body Gag: Spud is helping Trixie refill her costume with air after it popped because of their super loud sound system, when Fu rips out the pump and she goes flying around the room.
  • Needle in a Stack of Needles: When Jake is trying to find Lao Shi, he discovers that all the kids in the area have taken to dressing like him after seeing how successful he and Hayley were at getting candy using his appearance.
  • Nice Job Fixing It, Villain: Almost happens when Rose chooses to slay Chang out of the three captured Councilors. She thinks she'd be fulfilling her destiny, but what she'd really be doing is removing a dangerous traitor to the Magical World.
  • Oh, Crap!:
    • Jake's reaction when he sees that the Dragon Council is at his Halloween party.
    • The Dragon Council themselves have this reaction when they're captured by the Huntsclan.
  • Piss-Take Rap: Jake’s Halloween rap. Yikes.
Jake: Kick out the what? The jams, yo jams!
  • Save the Villain: An unintentional example. Jake saves Chang, along with Andam and Kulde, but he doesn't know that she's evil.
  • Shout-Out:
    • One partygoer can be seen dressed as Batman.
    • A few girls are dressed in Kim Possible's cheerleader uniform.
    • Trixie's costume resembles Missy Elliott's costume from her "The Rain (Supa Dupa Fly)" music video.
  • Shut Up, Hannibal!: Without knowing she's a traitor, Andam and Kulde give this to Chang. She claims Jake should remain suspended from being a dragon, as his irresponsible partying proved he was unworthy. However, her fellow Dragon Councilors remark that it was also Jake's Halloween Party that saved them. Chang is begrudgingly speechless.
Chang: Councilors, surely you're not considering reinstating the boy?
Councilor Andam: We aren't considering it. We're doing it.
Chang: But his lack of discipline—!
Councilor Kulde: Is exactly what saved you from becoming someone's prey.
  • Tap on the Head: Rose ends up knocking herself unconscious when she's surprised by the arrival of Jake's party, stopping her from being able to identify him later.
  • Tail Slap: Happens to Brad at Jake's party when he's talking to a centaur's butt (he thinks it's actually two girls in a horse costume and that one of them got stuck with the back end).
  • That Poor Cat: A blender thrown out of Lao Shi's shop elicits a classic cat screech.
  • Wild Teen Party: Jake convinces Fu Dog to have one thrown at the shop while Lao Shi is taking Haley Trick-Or-Treating. While Lao Shi never finds out, the Council does.
  • With Great Power Comes Great Responsibility: The Dragon Council takes this idea very seriously, to the point where they believe there’s no room for fun or relaxation.
  • Your Costume Needs Work: A nerd in a hobbit costume criticizes Jake’s dragon “costume.”
Hobbit: Those scales look like oversized tiddlywinks and are we to actually believe dragons use words like “yo”?
