In the run-up to the match between the Eagles and Chargers to determine the state champion title, Spencer and Jordan are chosen to play for the All-American team, while Asher receives a full scholarship at Coastal California University. However, secrets and revelations end up fracturing the cohesion of both teams. Meanwhile, Coop and Patience, on the way to Las Vegas, learn about Monique's true intentions, while Layla convinces Carrie to meet her parents, not knowing that she has put herself in danger.

  • Anger Montage: Asher wrecks the locker room after learning about his football-ending diagnosis.
  • Brutal Brawl: The confrontation between Jordan, J.J., Spencer, Frausto, and Asher lead to a brutal fight involving the entire Eagles and Chargers.
  • Career-Ending Injury: Asher has cardiomyopathy, which means his football career ends for good.
  • The Cavalry Arrives Late: Preach manages to shoot Monique, but not fast enough to thwart her from shooting Coop.
  • Cliffhanger: We only see Spencer and Jordan heading for their match alongside the rest of the Eagles and Chargers, while so much bad blood exists between them. Layla doesn't realize that Carrie is planning to commit murder suicide. The biggest cliffhanger, however, is the scene that ends the episode: Coop being shot by Monique in the chest and bleeding as Preach desperately tries to save her.
  • Disappointed in You: What Billy says to Spencer after he reveals Jordan's secret training. Spencer is haunted since he never said it to him before.
  • Hope Spot:
    • Asher receives a football scholarship the same day his father informs him that he has cardiomyopathy.
    • Coop seemingly convinces Monique to drop her gun, but she shoots her anyway.
  • Idiot Ball: What should have been a heated conversation between a few Eagles and Chargers players end up involving the entire teams. Montes and Billy even point out how stupid it is.
  • In Medias Res: The episode opens with scenes set near the end, with Spencer being punched, Asher crying at the locker room, J.P. finding a letter and calling Layla, and Coop and Patience being stopped by the police. Then it rewinds to "48 hours earlier".
  • Insecure Love Interest: Olivia is insecure about declaring Spencer her boyfriend.
  • Mood-Swinger: Carrie is potentially bipolar, going between angry and chipper on a dime.
  • Murder-Suicide: Carrie is planning to do this, with Layla as the victim.
  • The Scapegoat: Monique arranges for Coop and Patience to become a scapegoat for drug dealing, putting them to jail. The plan fails because Coop foresaw this and had the drugs removed in advance.
  • You Killed My Father: Monique wants to kill Coop for having a hand in Tyrone's death.
