Go To

The twenty-eighth episode of Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog.

Robotnik invents the Decrepitizer, a ray that ages people, to turn Sonic into an old man so that he can easily catch him. When Sonic and Tails are having free samples in Robotnik's Insta-food Factory, Grounder presses the wrong button that turns Sonic, Tails and by mistake Robotnik into babies.

This episode provides examples of:

  • Baby Morph Episode: Robotnik invents the Decrepitizer to age Sonic into a senior so he won't be fast. Scratch and Grounder accidentally put the Decrepitizer in reverse, de-aging Sonic, Tails, and eventually Robotnik into babies.
  • Bearded Baby: The infant version of Robotnik is shown to have a mustache, much like his adult counterpart.
  • Bowdlerize: The Toon Disney broadcast of this episode cuts out its "Sonic Says" segment.
  • Circling Birdies: Happens to the infant version of Robotnik after he lands just outside the daycare center on the merry-go-round trap he intended to set off on the infant versions of Sonic and Tails.
  • Continuity Nod: This episode marks the second appearance of Tails as a baby, retaining his design from a flashback sequence in a previous episode, "Tails' New Home".
  • Cool Old Lady: Miss Saccharine is revealed to have a black belt in Taekwondo, and she demonstrates her skills on Scratch and Grounder when they come to her, disguised as policemen.
  • Crocodile Tears: The infant version of Sonic does this to trick Scratch and Grounder into letting him fix the Decrepitizer after the infant version of Tails breaks it.
  • Enfante Terrible: The infant version of Robotnik is just as evil as his adult counterpart.
  • "Eureka!" Moment: When Robotnik laments how he'll be an old man by the time he finally catches Sonic, Scratch and Grounder point out that Sonic will be as well, and will be easier to catch then. This gives Robotnik the idea to invent the Decrepitizer to prematurely age Sonic.
  • Explosive Breeder: Discussed by one of the two rats Robotnik tests his decrepitizer on:
Female Rat: Four thousand sixty two grandchildren and not one comes to visit.
  • Hoist by His Own Petard: The infant Robotnik comes up with a plan to leave a trail of red jelly beans to a merry-go-round rigged to go off when a dog tied to it starts running. It gets foiled when the owner forces the infant Sonic and Tails to brush their teeth. After complaining that the only jelly beans he has to eat are black and green ones he doesn't like, Robotnik sees the trail of red jelly beans and starts eating them and gets tricked into getting spun on the merry-go-round when the dog wakes up.
  • Instant Mass: Just Add Water!: Tails eats some dehydrated food at a factory, then drinks a glass of water. This results in him swelling up to the size of a parade float, and getting caught in the doorway when Sonic tries to get them away from Scratch and Grounder.
  • Not This One, That One: Sonic brings Tails some insta-food, then tells him that there's plenty more where it came from, and points behind him. Tails comes to a pile of what looks like the insta-food, only to find out it's just dirt. Sonic then tells Tails that he was pointing to the Insta-food Factory.
  • Overnight Age-Up: Invoked; Robotnik plans to use his decrepitizer to age Sonic to the point where he'll be too old and feeble to escape him, but Scratch and Grounder's incompetence complicates things. At the end of the episode, Robotnik is aged into a senior.
  • Pie in the Face: The infant version of Sonic does this to the infant version of Robotnik twice upon meeting him at the Insta-food Factory. The first time, the infant Sonic tosses a cream pie, and the second time, he tosses a chocolate pie.
  • Potty Emergency: Sonic has one shortly after being de-aged into a toddler. He exclaims, "I gotta go potty!" and runs offscreen.
  • Shout-Out: When Scratch and Grounder, disguised as policemen, come to Miss Saccharine's daycare center, this exchange occurs:
Miss Saccharine: Can I see your badges?
    Scratch: Badges?
Grounder: We don't need no stinking...
  • Stock "Yuck!": The infant version of Robotnik is shown to dislike black and green jellybeans.
  • Stuck in the Doorway: Tails swells up to the size of a parade float after he eats some dehydrated food at Robotnik's Insta-food Factory, then drinks a glass of water. When Sonic tries to get them away from Scratch and Grounder, Tails gets stuck in a doorway. He is soon freed when Scratch and Grounder accidentally de-age him into a baby rather than age him and Sonic into seniors as they intended.
  • Trash Landing: The infant version of Robotnik lands in a trash can after his dynamite, which he intended to use on the infant version of Tails, launches him into the air.
